Journal ArticleDOI

Interactions of rod and cone signals in the mudpuppy retina.

TL;DR: It is proposed that interactions between rod and cone signals observed in mudpuppy also exist in primate retina and are at least partially responsible for certain psychophysical observations of rod‐cone interactions.

Aspartate separation of the scotopic threshold response (STR) from the photoreceptor a-wave of the cat and monkey ERG

TL;DR: Recordings of ERG responses at the cornea of cat and monkey provide the first evidence that the monkey has an STR, and that it is post-photoreceptoral like the STR of cat, and provides support to consider that the corneal negative STR wave of the human ERG with dim light may also be post- photographsensitive.
Journal ArticleDOI

Light-evoked changes in extracellular potassium concentration in mudpuppy retina

TL;DR: Light-evoked changes in extracellular potassium concentration ([K+]0) and field potentials were recorded simultaneously in response to a wide variety of stimuli and at various depths within the retina of Necturus to suggest the same neurons which generate the PNR may be the source of the observed K+ flux.
Journal ArticleDOI

The release of acetylcholine and amino acids from the rabbit retina in vivo.

TL;DR: Exposure of the dark adapted retina to flashes of light produced a striking increase in the efflux of |(3)H|ACh, consistent with the suggestion that aspartate but not ACh or taurine may be a photoreceptor transmitter substance.
