Dynamic mechanical behavior of syntactic iron foams with glass microspheres

TL;DR: In this paper, the mechanical behavior of syntactic foams made of hollow glass microspheres mixed in an iron matrix was investigated, and the experimental characterization was performed by means of compression tests at three strain-rate levels: at the highest strain rate level a SHPB was used.

The compressive properties of expandable microspheres/epoxy foams

TL;DR: In this article, the compressive properties of epoxy foams with different densities and microstructures were investigated by changing the foaming temperature and the precuring extent of the foam.

Cellular Solids: Structure and Properties

TL;DR: The linear elasticity of anisotropic cellular solids is studied in this article. But the authors focus on the design of sandwich panels with foam cores and do not consider the properties of the materials.

A review of particulate reinforcement theories for polymer composites

TL;DR: In this paper, a survey of the existing theories for predicting the strength and modulus of particulate-filled polymeric composites is presented, and the limitation of theoretical models in describing these parameters and expressing the experimental data on the macroscopic behaviour is demonstrated.

Compression properties of syntactic foams: effect of cenosphere radius ratio and specimen aspect ratio

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of change in the internal radius of cenospheres was investigated for flatwise (specimen aspect ratio of 0.5) compressive properties of syntactic foams.
