Performance of Nano-Filler Reinforced Composite Overwrap System to Repair Damaged Pipelines Subjected to Quasi-static and Impact Loading

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of nano-silica in glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) composite wrap was investigated for repair and rehabilitation of transmission pipelines, and the results showed enhanced mechanical behavior as compared to the composites without nano-silica.
Journal ArticleDOI

Integrity reconstruction of damaged transporting pipelines applying fiber reinforced polymer composite wraps

TL;DR: In this paper, the role of external reinforcement technologies on the integrity reconstruction of damaged transporting steel pipelines, based on full-scale tests, is presented, where externally reinforced seamless and seam welded steel pipeline sections without girth welds were investigated; fatigue and burst tests were executed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Integrity increasing of damaged transporting pipelines using fiber reinforced polymer composite wrap systems

TL;DR: In this article , a full-scale pipeline investigation program was introduced, where different composite reinforcing methods, in other words wrap systems, were applied, investigated and compared, and a safety factor was defined and calculated for the assessment of the effectiveness of the reinforcing systems and the reliability of the girth welds.
Journal ArticleDOI

Performance Assessment of Polymeric Composite Wrap to Repair Damaged Pipelines Exposed under Accelerated Environment Conditions

TL;DR: In this article, fiber-reinforced polymer composites are used as emerging materials to repair oil and gas transmission pipelines without stopping the flow of fluids inside, and these pipelines are subjected to...

Effectiveness of using fibre-reinforced polymer composites for underwater steel pipeline repairs

TL;DR: In this article, a comprehensive review on the use of fiber-reinforced polymer composites for in-air, underground and underwater pipeline repairs is presented, and critical aspects of technical challenges, benefits and shortcomings in determining the feasibility and suitability for repair systems involving the composites are also presented.
Journal ArticleDOI

An alternative methodology to repair localized corrosion damage in metallic pipelines with epoxy resins

TL;DR: In this paper, the analysis of epoxy repair systems for metallic pipelines undergoing elastic or inelastic deformations with localized corrosion damage that impair the serviceability is presented and analyzed showing the possibilities of practical use of the proposed methodology.
Journal ArticleDOI

Composite repair of through-wall defects in pipework – Analytical and numerical models with respect to ISO/TS 24817

TL;DR: In this paper, an analytical assessment approach is developed by means of Linear Elastic Fracture Mechanics and Finite Element Analysis, which is compared to the one given in the Code ISO/TS 24817 which is currently the mainly used code for the qualification and design of composite repairs for pipework.

Principles of and tips for nitrogen displacement in gas pipeline commissioning

TL;DR: In this article, the authors summarized experiences from various scenarios at home and abroad over the past decade, and introduced some innovative practices in the preparation of pipeline commissioning schemes, which help not only simplify the on-site operation on the premise of safe production but also shorten the nitrogen displacement time greatly, and save a large quantity of nitrogen gas, as a result, the economic benefit is significantly enhanced.
