Journal ArticleDOI
Geochemical and hydrodynamic controls on arsenic and trace metal cycling in a seasonally stratified US sub-tropical reservoir
TL;DR: In this article, the phase distribution of trace metals and oxyanions, including U and As, in 2 surface water bodies was investigated within a South Texas watershed hosting a high density of surface U mine pits and tailings.
Journal ArticleDOI
Greenhouse Gas Fluxes of a Shallow Lake in South-Central North Dakota, USA
TL;DR: In this paper, a 3-year study was conducted in south-central North Dakota, USA, to provide an initial estimate of GHG fluxes from a large, shallow lake.
Journal ArticleDOI
Spatio-temporal variation of gross CO2 and CH4 diffusive emissions from Australian reservoirs and natural aquatic ecosystems, and estimation of net reservoir emissions
Julie Bastien,Maud Demarty +1 more
TL;DR: The main drivers of diffusive emission variation were physiographic region and climate, with a clear demarcation being observed between diffusive emissions from tropical Queensland and temperate Tasmania, and between the humid West Coast Range and dry Central Plateau.
Journal ArticleDOI
A review of carbon sink or source effect on artificial reservoirs
W. W. Phyoe,F. Wang +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, a review of recent literature on carbon burial and greenhouse gas emissions in reservoirs and global estimates of terrestrial carbon input to inland waters is presented, which demonstrates that reservoirs play a significant role in carbon burial, defines factors that influence the carbon budget of reservoirs, and explains how reservoirs affect global climatic change.
Journal ArticleDOI
Use of allochthonous resources by zooplankton in reservoirs
TL;DR: It is hypothesized that due to high terrestrial loads and remnant submerged terrestrial material, allochthonous resource use by zooplankton would be significant in all reservoirs and would decline along an increasing reservoir age gradient.

Climate Change 1995: The Science of Climate Change
TL;DR: The most comprehensive and up-to-date assessment available for scientific understanding of human influences on the past present and future climate is "Climate Change 1995: The Science of Climate Change" as mentioned in this paper.
Book
Biogeochemistry : An Analysis of Global Change
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a perspective of the global cycle of nitrogen and phosphorous, the global water cycle, and the global sulfur cycle from a global point of view.
Journal ArticleDOI
Northern Peatlands: Role in the Carbon Cycle and Probable Responses to Climatic Warming.
TL;DR: Satellite-monitoring of the abundance of open water in the peatlands of the West Siberian Plain and the Hudson/James Bay Lowland is suggested as a likely method of detecting early effects of climatic warming upon boreal and subarctic peatland environments.
Journal ArticleDOI
Flux of Gases across the Air-Sea Interface
Peter S. Liss,P. G. Slater +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the use of a two-layer model to estimate the flux of various gases across the air-sea interface has been described, and the model has been used to estimate flux of different gases across different regions of the world.
Book
Water in crisis: a guide to the world's fresh water resources
TL;DR: In this article, an introduction to global fresh water issues is presented. But the authors focus on water quality and health, not just water quality, and do not address the issues of water management and economic development.
