TLDR
In this article, a renewed discussion on IT has been proposed, with the aim of divulging the unsolvable difficulties for obtaining relevant information from this that could be shared between laboratories, and the influence of column inlet pressure pi and the ratio L/dc on the reproducibility of IT is utilized as an example to illustrate and discuss the basic concepts.

Simultaneous analysis of metabolites in potato tuber by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry.

TL;DR: Although the method represents a compromise for a wide range of metabolites in terms of extraction, chemical modification and GC-MS analysis, for 25 metabolites analysed in detail the recoveries were found to be within the generally accepted range of 70-140%.
Journal ArticleDOI

Applications of polydimethylsiloxane in analytical chemistry: A review

TL;DR: Polydimethylsiloxane is gaining importance in the manufacturing of lab-on-a-chip devices, which have revolutionized bio-analysis and the field of analytical chemistry.
Journal ArticleDOI

Retention indices in the analysis of food aroma volatile compounds in temperature‐programmed gas chromatography: Database creation and evaluation of precision and robustness

TL;DR: The capabilities of the created database for food aroma characterisation were evaluated by analysing the volatile fractions of different food matrices such as dry sausages, cheese and bread, proving the usefulness of the RI collections in the field of food analysis.
Journal ArticleDOI

Using Comprehensive Two-Dimensional Gas Chromatography Retention Indices To Estimate Environmental Partitioning Properties for a Complete Set of Diesel Fuel Hydrocarbons

TL;DR: In this article, a simple but robust method was developed to estimate GC×GC retention indices for diesel-range hydrocarbons by exploiting n-alkanes as reference solutes in both dimensions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Foundations of retention in partition chromatography

TL;DR: The broadly based and practically focused material in this article affords an illustration of the often complicated relationship between system properties and retention, and the dangers that lurk in simplified retention models if the validity of their underlining approximations is not appropriate for the system under study.

A generalization of the retention index system including linear temperature programmed gas-liquid partition chromatography.

TL;DR: The equation given by Kovats for the calculation of the retention index in case of isothermal operation is transformed to a more general form to include also the case of linear temperature programmed operation and gives the same retention index for both ways of operation.
