Reverse flexing as a physical/mechanical treatment to mitigate fouling of fine bubble diffusers.

TLDR
No significant impact of the RF treatment in preventing a decrease in alpha-fouling of the fine pore diffusers, over time in operation was observed, and reverse flexing potentially saves blower energy.

Membrane fouling in a submerged membrane bioreactor (MBR) under sub-critical flux operation : Membrane foulant and gel layer characterization

TL;DR: In this article, a submerged membrane bioreactor (MBR) under sub-critical flux operation was systematically characterized, and it was found that the organic foulants coupled with inorganic precipitation enhanced the formation of gel layer and thus caused membrane fouling in the MBR.
