Avalanche behavior in yield stress fluids
TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that typical yield stress fluids (gels and clay suspensions) and soft glassy materials (colloidal glasses) start flowing abruptly and subsequently accelerate, leading to avalanches that are remarkably similar to those of granular materials.
Journal ArticleDOI
Characterisation of gas mixing in water and pulp-suspension flow based on electrical resistance tomography
TL;DR: In this article, electrical resistance tomography (ERT) was used to investigate gas dispersion in horizontal developing pipe flow downstream of a 90°-tee mixer and an in-line mechanical mixer.
Journal ArticleDOI
Experimental investigation on rheological, momentum and heat transfer characteristics of flowing fiber crop suspensions
Samira Gharehkhani,Samira Gharehkhani,Hooman Yarmand,Mohammad Shahab Goodarzi,Seyed Farid Seyed Shirazi,Ahmad Amiri,Mohd Nashrul Mohd Zubir,K.H. Solangi,Rushdan Ibrahim,Salim Newaz Kazi,Somchai Wongwises +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper, heat transfer and pressure loss data were obtained from pulp suspension flow at different concentrations over a wide velocity range in a straight pipe and the effects of fiber length and flexibility on momentum and heat transfer data were studied.
Journal ArticleDOI
Modified Lyocell process to improve dissolution of cellulosic pulp and pulp blends in NMMO solvent
TL;DR: In this article, a modified Lyocell process is demonstrated by pretreating pulps to remove metallic and hemicellulose impurities, which significantly reduces impurities and improves swelling of pulp results in faster dissolution and safer process.

Rheology: Principles, Measurements, and Applications
TL;DR: This text tackles the tensor in such a way as to make the problems accessible and understandable - by simplifying notation and making the three-dimensional approach to rheology practical.

Adsorption of Fluoride from Water Solution on Bone Char
Nahum Andrés Medellín-Castillo,Roberto Leyva-Ramos,Raúl Ocampo-Pérez,Ramon F. Garcia De La Cruz,Antonio Aragón-Piña,Jose M. Martinez-Rosales,R.M. Guerrero-Coronado,Laura Fuentes-Rubio +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, the effects of solution pH and temperature on the adsorption of fluoride onto bone char made from cattle bones were investigated, and it was found that the maximum adaption took place at pH 3.
Journal ArticleDOI
Preparation and Characterization of CaO Nanoparticles/NaX Zeolite Catalysts for the Transesterification of Sunflower Oil
Sandra Luz Martínez,Rubi Romero,José Carlos López,Amaya Romero,Víctor Sánchez Mendieta,Reyna Natividad +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, the results of the transesterification of sunflower oil with methanol to produce biodiesel using CaO nanoparticles supported on NaX zeolite as catalyst were reported.
