Separation of the Chlorella ATP:Urea amido-lyase into two components

TLDR
A Chlorella extract capable of cleaving urea to CO2 and NH3 in the presence of ATP has been separated into two enzymes neither of which demonstrates this activity alone, and both decomposes allophanate without added cofactors.

Roles of urease in plant cells

TL;DR: The role of urease in plant cells is discussed, which appears to have an important role in germination of protein poor seeds and abundant seed ureases, such as, Sumner's jackbean ure enzyme, may play a chemical defense role.

The biological significance of nickel

TL;DR: In higher plants, Ni is required for optimum growth of certain pine tree species and some Ni accumulator species of Alyssum, but its function is not known, and slight increases in the growth of a number of plant species were attributed to low levels of Ni.

Opinion: nickel and urease in plants: still many knowledge gaps.

TL;DR: It is argued that urease (and hence, Ni) plays an important role in optimal N-use efficiency under various N regimes by recycling urea-N, which is generated endogenously exclusively from arginase action on arginine.

Urea carboxylase and allophanate hydrolase. Two components of adenosine triphosphate:urea amido-lyase in Saccharomyces cerevisiae.

TL;DR: The ATP:urea amido-lyase reaction of yeast has been shown to consist of two distinct activities, an avidin-sensitive, thiourea-insensitive urea carboxylase and an avidine-sensitive allophanate hydrolase.

The role of polyamines in the neutralization of bacteriophage deoxyribonucleic acid.

TL;DR: The cations of T4 phage have been examined and a balance has been obtained between total cations and total DNA anions and the replacement of the normal polyamines suggested that the polyamines may be acting as nonspecific cations.
