Abstract
This paper presents an architecture of a smart space built with robots and distributed smart cameras connected via a network. We present a framework for tracking and recording presence of objects over a large space using vision as the basic sensing mechanism. A MAP based object identification scheme which works on Grassmannian manifold has been presented. Experimental results establish validity of the approach.

A database for person re-identification in multi-camera surveillance networks

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors presented a new challenging multi-camera surveillance database designed for the task of person re-identification, consisting of 150 unscripted sequences of subjects travelling in a building environment though up to eight camera views, appearing from various angles and in varying illumination conditions.

Statistical Computations on Grassmann and Stiefel Manifolds for Image and Video-Based Recognition

TL;DR: This paper discusses how commonly used parametric models for videos and image sets can be described using the unified framework of Grassmann and Stiefel manifolds, and derives statistical modeling of inter and intraclass variations that respect the geometry of the space.

Merging and splitting eigenspace models

TL;DR: New deterministic methods that, given two eigenspace models-each representing a set of n-dimensional observations-will: merge the models to yield a representation of the union of the sets and split one model from another to represent the difference between the sets are presented.

Appearance-based person reidentification in camera networks: problem overview and current approaches

TL;DR: Algorithms for speeding up the computation of signatures are discussed and very fast procedures for computing co-occurrence matrices are described by leveraging a generalization of the integral representation of images.

Multiple-shot human re-identification by Mean Riemannian Covariance Grid

TL;DR: A new appearance model combining information from multiple images to obtain highly discriminative human signature, called Mean Riemannian Covariance Grid (MRCG) is proposed, which outperforms state of the art methods.
