Slow dynamics of constrained water in complex geometries

TL;DR: In this article, the bimodal response of confined water is studied, with one bulk water-like subpicosecond component and a much slower component in a time scale of hundreds or thousands of picoseconds.
Journal ArticleDOI

Ultrafast dynamics in reverse micelles, microemulsions, and vesicles

TL;DR: In this article, the authors apply solvation dynamics to reverse micelles, micro-emulsions and vesicular systems, which provides a complement to steady-state experiments and builds an understanding of the details of these systems.
Journal ArticleDOI

Solvation dynamics of DCM in human serum albumin

TL;DR: In this article, the solvation dynamics of 4-(dicyanomethylene)-2-methyl-6-(p-dimethylaminostyryl) 4H-pyran (DCM) in aqueous solution of a protein, human serum albumin (HSA), was studied using picosecond time-resolved emission spectroscopy.
Journal ArticleDOI

Photochemistry and Photophysics in Silica-Based Materials: Ultrafast and Single Molecule Spectroscopy Observation.

TL;DR: The discussion of the confined dynamics includes solvation and intra- and intermolecular proton-, electron-, and energy transfer events of the guest within the SBMs.

Femtosecond solvation dynamics of water

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present experimental measurements of the ultrafast solvation dynamics of a coumarin salt in water, and combine them with computer simulations to demonstrate that a solvent response on a timescale faster than 50 fs can dominate aqueous solvation dynamic.
Journal ArticleDOI

Picosecond solvation dynamics of coumarin 153: The importance of molecular aspects of solvation

TL;DR: In this paper, a probe molecule coumarin 153 (Cu153) and picosecond spectroscopic techniques were used to examine the solvation dynamics in polar liquids and showed that the frequency of the electronic spectrum of this probe provides a convenient measure of solvation energetics.
Journal ArticleDOI

Liquid interfaces probed by second-harmonic and sum-frequency spectroscopy

TL;DR: Only liquid interfaces will be considered; gas/solid and solid/solid interfaces are not included; this restriction is necessary because of the enormous increase in SH and SF studies in recent years, which makes it extremely difficult to properly discuss the range of work being carried out around the world.
Journal ArticleDOI

The dynamics of solvation in polar liquids

TL;DR: In this paper, a review of recent experiments, theories, and computer simulations aimed at elucidating the dynamics of solvation in polar liquids are critically reviewed, and the results of these experiments are presented.
Journal ArticleDOI

Nonreactive Dynamics in Solution: The Emerging Molecular View of Solvation Dynamics and Vibrational Relaxation

TL;DR: Two of the more fundamental ways in which molecules change their behavior when they are dissolved are that they can begin to exchange energy with the surrounding liquid and they can induce their surroundings to rearrange so as to provide a significant stabilizing influence as mentioned in this paper.
