TLDR
In this article, a simple system comprising a vertical spring acting in parallel with two oblique springs is studied, and it is shown that there is a unique relationship between the geometry and the stiffness of the springs that yields a system with zero dynamic stiffness at the static equilibrium position.

A study of a nonlinear vibration isolator with a quasi-zero stiffness characteristic

TL;DR: In this paper, a vibration isolator consisting of a vertical linear spring and two nonlinear pre-stressed oblique springs is considered, and the softening parameter leading to quasi-zero dynamic stiffness at the equilibrium position is obtained as a function of the initial geometry, pre-stress and the stiffness of the springs.

Force and displacement transmissibility of a nonlinear isolator with high-static-low-dynamic-stiffness

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the dynamic behavior of a nonlinear isolator supporting a lumped mass by modelling the dynamic system as a single-degree-of-freedom system.
Journal ArticleDOI

On the force transmissibility of a vibration isolator with quasi-zero stiffness

TL;DR: In this article, the authors derived the force transmissibility of a quasi-zero-stiffness isolator, which consists of a vertical spring and two oblique springs that are either linear, linear with pre-stress or softening nonlinear with prestress.

Energy Harvesting From Vibrations With a Nonlinear Oscillator

TL;DR: In this paper, a nonlinear electromagnetic energy harvesting device with a broadly resonant response was presented, which is generated by a particular arrangement of magnets in conjunction with an iron-cored stator.
Journal ArticleDOI

Recent advances in micro-vibration isolation

TL;DR: A review of the vibration isolation theory and/or methods which were developed, mainly over the last decade, specifically for or potentially could be used for, micro-vibration control can be found in this paper.

A Course of Modern Analysis

TL;DR: The volume now gives a somewhat exhaustive account of the various ramifications of the subject, which are set out in an attractive manner and should become indispensable, not only as a textbook for advanced students, but as a work of reference to those whose aim is to extend the knowledge of analysis.

Shock and vibration handbook

TL;DR: The third edition of the Handbook as discussed by the authors provides a wealth of detailed information on all aspects of shock and vibration, including instrumentation and measurements, data analysis and testing, methods of control, solutions to engineering problems and effects of vibration on people.
Journal ArticleDOI

Passive Vibration Isolation

TL;DR: In this article, the principles of design and means for realization of passive vibration isolation systems for real-life objects are discussed, and a special emphasis is given to effective techniques and methods that are not yet widely used in the practice of vibration isolation in industry.

Negative-stiffness-mechanism vibration isolation systems

TL;DR: In this paper, the negative-stiffness mechanism is used to cancel the stiffness of a spring suspension, which increases the hysteretic damping of a vibration isolation system.
