TLDR
Etude d'une classe de modeles XY simples, isotropes, invariants en translation, bidimensionnels, qui possedent, en plus des vortex entiers habituels, des excitations de «chaine» et demi-entieres.
Abstract
We study a class of simple, translationally invariant, two-dimensional, nearest-neighbor, isotropic XY models which possess, in addition to the familiar integer vortices, half-integer vortex and ``string'' excitations. The half-integer vortices interact through both the logarithmic Coulomb potential and a linear potential mediated by the strings. The phase diagram of these models consists of three phases separated by lines of conventional Kosterlitz-Thouless transitions and lines of Ising transitions driven by the vanishing of the tension in the strings.

Nonequilibrium Statistical Mechanics of Systems with Long-Range Interactions: Ubiquity of Core-Halo Distributions

TL;DR: In this article, a theory for quantitatively predicting the particle distribution in the out-of-equilibrium quasi-stationary state (qSS) is presented. But it is not applicable to the current paper.

Nonequilibrium statistical mechanics of systems with long-range interactions

TL;DR: In this article, a theory for quantitatively predicting the particle distribution in the out-of-equilibrium quasi-stationary states (qSSs) is presented, which is applied to various LR interacting systems, ranging from plasmas to self-gravitating clusters and kinetic spin models.

Phase transitions in two-dimensional systems with continuous degeneracy

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors discuss the nature and sequence of phase transitions in two-dimensional systems with continuous degeneracy, in which other factors must be taken into account in addition to the interaction of point-like topological excitations, namely, the existence of an additional discrete degeneracy (which leads to the possibility of domain wall formation), the removal of accidental degeneracy by fluctuations, the formation of solitons, and the presence of a random potential acting on vortices.

Bowlic Liquid Crystalsl

TL;DR: In this article, the experimental findings about bowlic mesophases are briefly summarized, including phase transitions and other physical properties (optical, elastic, flexoelectric and hydrodynamic, as well as defects) and possible instabilities and applications are discussed.

Phase Transitions in Quasi Two-Dimensional Planar Magnets

TL;DR: In the past ten years, a great deal of effort in condensed matter physics has been devoted to theoretical and experimental studies of phase transitions in two-dimensional (2-d) systems as mentioned in this paper.
