MMPs-responsive release of DNA from electrospun nanofibrous matrix for local gene therapy: In vitro and in vivo evaluation
Hye Sung Kim,Hyuk Sang Yoo +1 more
TL;DR: Control release of DNA in response to MMPs can be potentially applied to local gene delivery system for treating diabetic ulcers and the LPEI-immobilized nanofibrous matrix was superior to naked DNA or DNA-incorporated matrix without L PEI in terms of in vivo transfection efficiencies.

Non-woven mats of poly(vinyl alcohol)/chitosan blends containing silver nanoparticles: Fabrication and characterization
TL;DR: In this paper, a polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)/chitosan (CS) blend with silver nanoparticles (Ag/PVA/CS) was fabricated by an electrospinning method and the electrospun fibers attained a beaded structure at PVA to CS weight ratios of up to 88/12.

Effect of pH on electrospinning of poly(vinyl alcohol)
TL;DR: The average diameter of PVA fibers electrospun at pH 7.2 was 290 nm, whereas the electrospinning of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) solution was not continuous and beads-on-string structures were obtained due to the protonation of pVA under acidic conditions as discussed by the authors.

Bending instability of electrically charged liquid jets of polymer solutions in electrospinning
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors analyzed and explained the reasons for the instability of a viscous jet of polymer solution at a pendent droplet, showing that the longitudinal stress caused by the external electric field acting on the charge carried by the jet stabilized the straight jet for some distance.

Electrically driven jets
TL;DR: Van Dyke as mentioned in this paper measured the potentials at which viscous jets or drops first appear in a parallel electric field and compared with calculations of A. B. Basset and found that their stability is due to mechanical rather than electrical causes, like a stretched string, which is straight when pulled but bent when pushed.
