Abstract
Niobium nitride (NbN) is one of the leading materials for superconducting thin film applications such as electronic devices and coated r.f. cavities for high energy physics. In the following the fabrication technique of superconducting magnetron-sputtered NbN films is described and the experimental results are discussed.

First-principles studies of the electronic and elastic properties of metal nitrides XN (X = Sc, Ti, V, Cr, Zr, Nb)

TL;DR: In this article, a series of transition metal ion mononitrides (ScN, TiN, VN, CrN, ZrN, NbN) were modeled in the framework of ab initio plane wave spin-polarized calculations using the generalized gradient and local density approximations.

Pressure-induced structural phase transformation and elastic properties of transition metal mononitrides

TL;DR: In this paper, the high pressure structural phase transition in six transition metal mononitrides (TMNs) (M=Ti, Mo, V, Nb, Hf, and Zr), have been studied using a two-body interionic potential theory which includes the effect of Coulomb screening due to the semi-metallic nature of these compounds.

Niobium-titanium nitride thin films for superconducting rf accelerator cavities

TL;DR: In this article, high-quality (Nb1−xTix)N films have been produced by dc magnetron sputtering and carefully characterized, and the suitability of this material for the production of superconducting sputter-coated copper cavities for particle physics accelerators is demonstrated.

Electronic structure, vibrational spectrum, and thermal properties of yttrium nitride: A first-principles study

TL;DR: In this article, the electronic structure, vibrational spectrum, and thermal properties of Yttrium nitride (YN) were determined using first-principles density functional theory (DFT) based simulations with a generalized gradient approximation (GGA) of the exchange correlation energy.
