Journal ArticleDOI
A new growth medium for the study of siderophore-mediated interactions
TL;DR: Because the inorganic composition of RSM is based on that of the rhizosphere, the development of this medium may be a first step towards the study of the chemistry and biology of therhizosphere under well defined conditions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Histochemical differentiation of peroxidase-mediated from tyrosinase-mediated melanin formation in mammalian tissues. The biologic significance of peroxidase-mediated oxidation of tyrosine to malanin.
Milton R. Okun,Milton R. Okun,Leon M. Edelstein,Leon M. Edelstein,Nur Or,Nur Or,George Hamada,George Hamada,Barbara Donnellan,Barbara Donnellan,Walter F. Lever,Walter F. Lever +11 more
TL;DR: Preincubation with the copper-chelator, sodium diethyldithiocarbamate (DDC) and the presence of catalase in the incubation media allowed an accurate and reproducible differentiation of the role of tyrosinase from that of peroxid enzyme in the oxidation of tyosine and dopa in melanocytes, mast cells and eosinophils.
Journal ArticleDOI
Water and electrolyte balance of the desert iguana, dipsosaurus dorsalis, in its natural habitat☆
TL;DR: Desert iguanas, Dipsosaurus dorsalis, collected at different times of the year in the Coachella Valley, California, showed no signs of dehydration or accumulation of electrolytes as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Immunomodulation of Labeo rohita juveniles due to dietary gelatinized and non-gelatinized starch
TL;DR: Conclusively high level of G starch was found to be immunosuppressive in Labeo rohitas juveniles and NG:G starch ratio of 80:20 seems to be optimum for promoting growth and protecting immunity in L. rohita juveniles.
Journal ArticleDOI
Purification and Characterization of Milk Lipase. I. Purification
TL;DR: In this article, a milk lipase was isolated successfully from clarifier sediment and the enzyme was purified by chromatography on a Sephadex G-50 column using ultracentrifugal and gel electrophoretic techniques.
