TLDR
This study examines how product innovation contributes to the renewal of the firm through its dynamic and reciprocal relation with the firm's competences through field research in five high-tech firms of varying age, size, and level of diversification.
Abstract
This study examines how product innovation contributes to the renewal of the firm through its dynamic and reciprocal relation with the firm's competences Field research in five high-tech firms of varying age, size, and level of diversification is combined with analysis of existing theory to develop the findings of the study Based on the notion that new products are created by linking competences relating to technologies and customers, a typology is derived that classifies new product projects based on whether a new product can draw on existing competences, or whether it requires competences the firm does not yet have Following organizational learning theory, these options are conceptualized as exploitation and exploration These organizational learning concepts are used to gain a dynamic and path-dependent view of product innovation and firm development, and to reveal the unique nature and challenges of different types of product innovation Copyright © 2002 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd

On the conceptualization and measurement of dynamic capabilities for sustainability: Building theory through a systematic literature review

TL;DR: In this paper, a systematic literature review is performed to explore and understand how the 23-year long debate about dynamic capabilities has addressed sustainability issues, and a unifying framework that distinguishes different facets of dynamic capabilities for sustainability (DCsS) based on the different types of performance they are more suitable to predict.

Opening the technological innovation black box: The case of the electronics industry in Korea

TL;DR: This system dynamics simulation study analyzes a series of feedback causal relationships wherein R&D investments create new knowledge stocks, increasing technological knowledge “triggers” and interactions among entities of technological innovation, leading to firm profits through the commercialization process.

Entrepreneurial Orientation and Corruption

TL;DR: In this article, the authors explored the impact of entrepreneurial orientation on a negative aspect of business behavior, namely organizational corruption, using survey data and publicly available data from 411 firms, inquiring for both acts of corruption from within the top management team over the last three years and the level of entrepreneurial orientations within the organization.

Agglomeration of Invention in the Bay Area: Not Just ICT †

TL;DR: This work documents that the Bay Area rose from 4% of all successful US patent applications in 1976 to 16% in 2008, and interprets this growth as a trend to coagglomeration in invention across technologies, and explores different dimensions of this trend.

Dynamic capabilities and strategic management

TL;DR: The dynamic capabilities framework as mentioned in this paper analyzes the sources and methods of wealth creation and capture by private enterprise firms operating in environments of rapid technological change, and suggests that private wealth creation in regimes of rapid technology change depends in large measure on honing intemal technological, organizational, and managerial processes inside the firm.

A Resource-Based View of the Firm

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors explore the usefulness of analyzing firms from the resource side rather than from the product side, in analogy to entry barriers and growth-share matrices, the concepts of resource position barrier and resource-product matrices are suggested.
