Abstract
While the Marketing Function is focusing on the customer satisfaction through sales or marketing efforts of a firm, the supply chain function would minimize the cost of movement of resources in order increase the overall profitability of the firm. The researcher of this paper is focuses on the importance of dairy supply chain management and to illustrate the current practices of diary supply chain in India. Traditionally in India the consumption of milk and its related products is being sold by unorganized people or sector. But with the advent of mechanized dairy industry in India the shift towards organized milk industry is evident in today's globalized economic scenario. To gain profitability wouldn't be an easy task in this industry unless we manage the supply through efficient supply chain practices so as to enable the suppliers to supply the milk and allied products to the customer on time as these products are highly perishable. The researcher has made an earnest attempt to study the critical issues in supply chain management and to offer plausible solutions to the management of the firm understudy on how to gain profitability by cutting the cost through efficient supply chain management practices.
