Drill-bit signal separation for RVSP using statistical independence
TL;DR: In this paper, the velocities of the seismic and well data are determined after the well is drilled using check shots and VSPs, which is useful to better locate the drill bit in time on the seismic section; to redirect the well; and to gather as much further information as possible on the rocks ahead of the bit.
Shear-Selected Clusters from the Deep Lens Survey
TL;DR: The Deep Lens Survey (DLS) as discussed by the authors uses weak gravitational lensing both to find specific mass concentrations (clusters) and to measure weak lensing by large-scale structures (cosmic shear).
Journal ArticleDOI
Decompounding random sums: a nonparametric approach
Martin Bøgsted,Susan M. Pitts +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, a nonparametric plug-in estimator of the underlying sum-mand distribution is proposed, which is extended to general (but known) distributions for N. The authors show how recursion formulae can be inverted for the Panjer class in general.

Biological Inspiration: Lessons from Many-Legged Locomotors
TL;DR: Recent advancements in system controls and materials manufacturing promise to permit the application of nature’s lessons on legged locomotion to engineered robots.

A new method for absolute datum transfer in seafloor control network measurement
TL;DR: Wang et al. as mentioned in this paper proposed a sailing-circle positioning method to decrease the time consumption and the labor intensity in the absolute datum transfer of traditional seafloor control network measurement, which can achieve the highest accuracy in the condition of sailing along a circle relative to other sailing paths.
