TLDR
Variation in the intergenic spacer region of the ribosomal RNA genes (located at the Nor locus) was assayed in a collection of 411 accessions of Triticum tauschii from Turkey, USSR, Iran, Afghanisan, Pakistan, and China and showed a high level of recombination with the 5SDna-2 locus, which was also located on chromosome 5D.

The structure of the Aegilops tauschii genepool and the evolution of hexaploid wheat

TL;DR: Polymorphism in the lengths of restriction fragments at 53 single-copy loci, the rRNA locus Nor3, and the high-molecular-weight glutenin locus Glu1 was investigated in the D genome of hexaploid Triticum aestivum and that of Aegilops tauschii, and all appear to share a single D-genome genepool.

Gene-specific markers for the wheat gene Lr34/Yr18/Pm38 which confers resistance to multiple fungal pathogens

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used conserved sequence polymorphisms as templates to develop diagnostic molecular markers that will assist selection for durable multi-pathogen resistance in breeding programs, where five allele-specific markers (cssfr1-cssfr5) were developed based on a 3 bp deletion in exon 11 of the Lr34-gene.

Molecular genetic characterization of the Lr34/Yr18 slow rusting resistance gene region in wheat.

TL;DR: Wheat expressed sequence tags (wESTs) were identified in a genomic interval predicted to span the Lr34/Yr18 slow rusting region on chromosome 7DS and that corresponded to genes located in the syntenic region of rice chromosome 6.

A genetic linkage map of Triticum tauschii (DD) and its relationship to the D genome of bread wheat (AABBDD)

TL;DR: One hundred and seventy-eight loci have been mapped in Triticum tauschii (Coss.), and a hypervariable sequence was identified, which may have potential use in varietal fingerprinting.

A Sodium Transporter (HKT7) Is a Candidate for Nax1, a Gene for Salt Tolerance in Durum Wheat

TL;DR: The expression pattern of TmHKT7-A2 was consistent with the physiological role of Nax1 in reducing Na+ concentration in leaf blades by retaining Na+ in the sheaths, and could control Na+ unloading from xylem in roots and sheaths.

MAPMAKER: An interactive computer package for constructing primary genetic linkage maps of experimental and natural populations

TL;DR: A computer package, called MAPMAKER, designed specifically for the construction of linkage maps in a number of organisms, including the human and several plants, and it is outlined the mapping strategies that have been used.

Ribosomal DNA spacer-length polymorphisms in barley: mendelian inheritance, chromosomal location, and population dynamics.

TL;DR: It is concluded that the rDNA sl variants and/or associated loci are under selection in CCII, which demonstrates that Rrn1 and Rrn2 are useful as new genetic markers.

Unequal meiotic recombination within tandem arrays of yeast ribosomal DNA genes.

TL;DR: Recombinant DNA procedures and the yeast transformation technique were used to insert the yeast gene LEU 2 (coding for beta-isopropylmalate dehydrogenase) into the tandem array of ribosomal DNA genes of the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae.
