The relationships between land uses, soil management practices, and soil carbon fractions in South Eastern Australia

TLDR
In this article, the authors identified the land uses and soil management practices that had significant impact on carbon stocks in soil after accounting for influences soil properties and environmental variables using a multivariate technique.

Drivers of soil organic carbon storage and vertical distribution in Eastern Australia

TL;DR: In this article, the authors used a machine learning approach to identify the key drivers of soil organic carbon (SOC) storage and vertical distribution at 1401 sites from New South Wales, Australia and assessed the influence of the identified factors using traditional statistical approaches.
Journal ArticleDOI

Estimating soil organic carbon stocks using different modelling techniques in the semi-arid rangelands of eastern Australia

TL;DR: The results indicate that the RF exhibited a better performance in predicting SOC stocks than the BRT regardless of input variables, suggesting that the method of using GA-RF to generate a predictive model from measured data and remotely-sensed variables may provide a cost effective alternative to direct sampling to predict SOC stocks in the semi-arid rangelands of eastern Australia.

Carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorus storage in alpine grassland ecosystems of Tibet: effects of grazing exclusion.

TL;DR: Investigation of how alpine grasslands carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorus storage responds to grazing exclusion by fencing revealed no significant differences, and grazing exclusion had no impact on total C, N, and P storage, but grazing exclusion could result in increased aboveground biomass C and N pools and decreased soil surface layer (0–15 cm) C and P pools.

Soil carbon sequestration to mitigate climate change

TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a sustainable management of soil organic carbon (SOC) pool through conservation tillage with cover crops and crop residue mulch, nutrient cycling including the use of compost and manure, and other management practices.

Soil macroaggregate turnover and microaggregate formation: a mechanism for C sequestration under no-tillage agriculture

TL;DR: In this paper, a conceptual model which links the turnover of aggregates to soil organic matter dynamics in no-till (NT) and conventional tillage (CT) cropping systems was proposed.
