TLDR
In this article, X-ray powder diffraction data have been used to show that realgar synthesized directly from arsenic and sulfur exists in the high temperature β phase, which is metastable at room temperature, and the observed stability of β realgar relative to decomposition to As2S3 was greater than that reported in the literature for α realgar.

On the stability of mediaeval inorganic pigments: a literature review of the effect of climate, material selection, biological activity, analysis and conservation treatments

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors evaluated the impact of climate (relative humidity, temperature, illumination, etc., including volatile organic compounds) on the degradation of polychrome works of art.

Characterization of Pararealgar and Other Light-Induced Transformation Products from Realgar by Raman Microspectroscopy

TL;DR: In this paper, it has been determined that pararealgar, a light-induced polymorph of realgar, was used in a major work by the Renaissance master, Tintoretto.

Complete removal of arsenic and zinc from a heavily contaminated acid mine drainage via an indigenous SRB consortium.

TL;DR: It is shown that a high-As AMD effluent can be decontaminated by an indigenous SRB consortium and it is proposed that the formation of the AsIIS nanowires results from AsIII2S3 reduction by biogenic H2S, enhancing the efficiency of As removal.

The crystal structure of pararealgar, As4S4

TL;DR: Pararealgar, a polymorph of realgar (a-As.S), was determined by direct methods and refined by least-squares technique to a final R index of 3.39% as discussed by the authors.

The structure of vapour-deposited arsenic sulphides

TL;DR: In this article, high resolution X-ray and neutron correlation functions have been obtained for arsenic sulphide bulk glass and vapour-deposited films by making measurements to high momentum transfers.

Photoconductivity and drift mobilities in single crystal realgar (As4S4)

TL;DR: The photoconductivity and carrier mobilities of synthetic crystals of realgar (As4S4) have been investigated in this article, where a sharp increase in the photoresponse at short wavelengths is attributed to an energy gap of (2.40 ± 0.05) eV.

Transport properties of vapor grown orthorhombic sulfur crystals

TL;DR: In this paper, the same authors compared the electrical transport properties of orthorhombic sulfur from the vapor phase with those of CS 2 solution grown and natural sulfur crystals, and found that the trap depth and density of the solution-grown crystals is 0.4±0.1 eV and 10 14 cm −3 respectively.
