The surface depression and temperatures in molten pool with pulsed arc welding

TLDR
In this article, the surface tension mechanism at the interface of melting metal and argon was studied, and the results indicated that pulsed arc pressure created large depressions at the same current level.

Ultrasonic induces grain refinement in gas tungsten arc cladding AlCoCrFeNi high-entropy alloy coatings

TL;DR: In this article, ultrasonic treatment is introduced to the process of gas tungsten arc (GTA) cladding AlCoCrFeNi HEA coatings, and the average grain diameter is refined by 70% (from 285μm to 78μm).
Journal ArticleDOI

High-frequency pulse-modulated square wave AC TIG welding of AA6061-T6 aluminum alloy

TL;DR: In this article, a bead-on-plate welding of 6-mm thick AA6061-T6 aluminum alloy is used to characterize the high-frequency pulse-modulated square wave AC TIG (HFPM AC-TIG) welding.
Journal ArticleDOI

Research status and future perspectives on ultrasonic arc welding technique

TL;DR: In this article, the authors summarized the effect mechanisms of ultrasonic on the arc characteristics and molten pool behaviors during arc welding, and briefly discussed the association mechanism for ultrasonic vibration and electromagnetic field.

Arc welding of zirconium and its alloys: A review

TL;DR: In this article, an overview of publications on arc welding of zirconium and its alloys for seven decades is provided, where the main attention is paid to the parameters of the gas tungsten arc, plasma arc, and gas metal arc welding methods.
Journal ArticleDOI

Control of gravity effects on weld porosity distribution during variable polarity plasma arc welding of aluminum alloys

TL;DR: In this paper, variable polarity plasma arc (VPPA) nonvertical-up welding produces pores in specific positions (on the upper side of the welded joint) rather than throughout the whole welded joints due to the effect of gravity.

Investigation into arc constriction by active fluxes for tungsten inert gas welding

TL;DR: The most dominant mechanism for increased penetration is considered to be arc constriction rather than a change in the surface tension of the molten pool as mentioned in this paper, which is the most common mechanism used in tungsten inert gas welding.
Journal ArticleDOI

Selection of parameters of pulsed current gas metal arc welding

TL;DR: In this paper, a detailed study of the pulsed GMA welding, the effects of pulse parameters and different methodologies adopted for selecting these parameters to obtain better quality welds is presented.
Journal ArticleDOI

Computer Simulation of Convection in Moving Arc Weld Pools

TL;DR: In this paper, a computer simulation for three-dimensional convection in moving arc weld pools was described, with three distinct driving forces for flow considered, i.e., the electromagnetic force, the buoyancy force, and the surface tension gradient on the pool surface.
Journal ArticleDOI

Arc characteristics and behaviour of metal transfer in pulsed current GMA welding of aluminium alloy

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of pulse parameters has been studied by considering their hypothetically proposed summarised influence defined by a dimensionless factor ϕ ǫ = [( I b / I p ) ft b ], mean current and arc voltage.

A VO2-Based multifunctional window with highly improved luminous transmittance

TL;DR: In this article, a novel window structure composed of VO2 thermochromic film with TiO2 antireflection (AR) coating was proposed, which predicts a strong enhancement in luminous transmittance (Tlum).
