TL;DR: Investigation of youth psychiatric inpatients found that interest in negative feedback was associated with depression, was predictive of peer rejection (but only within relatively longer peer relationships), was more highly related to cognitive than emotional aspects of depression, and was specifically related to depression, rather than being generally associated with emotional distress.
