The Tyrosine Hydroxylase Activity of Mammalian Tyrosinase

TLDR
Dopa is the most effective hydrogen donor and will eliminate the lag period when used in catalytic amounts and 3,4-Dihydroxyphenylalanine at high concentration is an inhibitor of tyrosine hydroxylation, while tyrosinase acts as a substrate inhibitor at concentrations above 8 x 10-4 m.

Multicopper Oxidases and Oxygenases

TL;DR: Copper sites have historically been divided into three classes based on their spectroscopic features, which reflect the geometric and electronic structure of the active site: type 1 or blue copper, type 2 (T2) or normal copper, and type 3 (T3) or coupled binuclear copper centers.
Journal ArticleDOI

Melanin Pigmentation in Mammalian Skin and Its Hormonal Regulation

TL;DR: Melanogenesis is a highly structured system, active since early embryogenesis and capable of superselective functional regulation that may reach down to the cellular level represented by single melanocytes, and its significance extends beyond the mere assignment of a color trait.
Journal ArticleDOI

Polyphenol oxidases in plants

TL;DR: Two main groups of plant polyphenol oxidases are recognized: the catecholoxidases and the laccases: their purification, subcellular location and protein properties are described.
Journal ArticleDOI

Copper Active Sites in Biology

TL;DR: This review presents in depth discussions of all these classes of Cu enzymes and the correlations within and among these classes, as well as the present understanding of the enzymology, kinetics, geometric structures, electronic structures and the reaction mechanisms these have elucidated.

A simple efficient liquid scintillator for counting aqueous solutions in a liquid scintillation counter

TL;DR: A modification of the naphthalene-dioxane-PPO liquid scintillator has been described which will allow up to 3.0 ml of an aqueous solution to be counted as mentioned in this paper.

Tyrosine hydroxylase. the initial step in norepinephrine biosynthesis.

TL;DR: It has now been possible to demonstrate that brain, adrenal medulla, and sympathetically innervated tissues contain a specific hydroxylase that catalyzes the conversion of L-tyrosine to dopa.
