Chemotaxonomy of aerobic Actinomycetes: Phospholipid composition

TL;DR: A survey of the phospholipid composition of 97 strains representing 20 genera of the Actinomycetales showed that five groups could be distinguished on the basis of the presence or absence of certain nitrogenous phospholips, with chemical heterogeneity of the genera Actinomadura, Corynebacterium, Micropolyspora and Nocardia.
Journal ArticleDOI

Fast and slow components in axonal transport of protein

TL;DR: These experiments all indicate that the transported protein is synthesized in the retina, and inhibition of retinal protein synthesis after this protein has been formed does not interfere with the transport mechanism itself.
Journal ArticleDOI

An immunomodulatory polysaccharide‐rich substance from the fruit juice of Morinda citrifolia (noni) with antitumour activity

TL;DR: Improved survival time and curative effects occurred when noni‐ppt was combined with sub‐optimal doses of the standard chemotherapeutic agents, adriamycin (Adria), cisplatin (CDDP), 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and vincristine (VCR), suggesting important clinical applications of noni-ppt as a supplemental agent in cancer treatment.
Journal ArticleDOI

Nonproductive infection of baby hamster kidney cells (BHK21) with adenovirus type 12.

TL;DR: Adenovirus type 12 infects baby hamster kidney cells (BHK21), but does not multiply in these cells, and replication of Ad 12 DNA cannot be detected by equilibrium sedimentation in CsCl density gradients or by DNA-DNA hybridization on membrane filters.
