The results are given of a numerical evaluation of a characteristic equation derived in Part I, appropriate to free harmonic waves propagated along a hollow cylinder of infinite extent. This equation is evaluated for some representative cylinders covering the entire range from thin shells to solid cylinders, and the results are compared with the corresponding results of a shell theory. Observations are made regarding the variation of the frequency spectrum with the physical parameters, as well as the range of applicability of shell theories.read more

Approach to Lamb Wave Lateral Crack Quantification in Elastic Plate Based on Reflection and Transmission Coefficients Surfaces
TL;DR: In this article, an approach for lateral crack quantification based on these reflection and transmission coefficients surfaces was proposed, and the quantification examples show that the presented approach gives acceptable accuracy.
Accuracy Assessment of Shear Wave Elastography for Arterial Applications by Mechanical Testing
TL;DR: The results indicated a significant correlation between SWE and mechanical measurements for the arterial phantoms, with an average relative error of 10 % for elastic shear moduli in the range of 23 to 108 kPa, indicating the potential of SWE as a future cardiovascular diagnostic tool.

Detection and monitoring of axial cracks on cylindrical structures using torsional wave generated by piezoelectric macro-fiber composite
TL;DR: In this article, the first order torsional wave is used to detect and monitor axial cracks in cylindrical structures using a macro-fiber composite (MFC), which is a kind of non-dispersive pure shear wave propagating at a fixed wave speed.

TL;DR: In this paper, an analysis of the steady-state vibrations of gun tubes with eccentric bores is performed entirely within the framework of three-dimensional linear elasticity, and the resulting solutions clearly exhibit the coupling between the extensional and flexural motions.
