Defect structure and hardness in nanocrystalline CoCrFeMnNi High-Entropy Alloy processed by High-Pressure Torsion
Anita Heczel,Megumi Kawasaki,Megumi Kawasaki,János L. Lábár,János L. Lábár,Jae-il Jang,Terence G. Langdon,Terence G. Langdon,Jenő Gubicza +8 more
TL;DR: In this article, an equiatomic CoCrFeMnNi High-Entropy Alloy (HEA) produced by arc melting was processed by High-Pressure Torsion (HPT) and the evolution of the microstructure during HPT was investigated after ¼, ½, 1 and 2 turns using electron backscatter diffraction and transmission electron microscopy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Review: achieving superplastic properties in ultrafine-grained materials at high temperatures
TL;DR: In this article, a review examines recent results that demonstrate the occurrence of exceptional superplastic flow in a series of UFG aluminum and magnesium alloys after ECAP and HPT.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hierarchical features infused heterogeneous grain structure for extraordinary strength-ductility synergy
Shivakant Shukla,Deep Choudhuri,Tianhao Wang,K. Liu,Robert W. Wheeler,Sarah Williams,Bharat Gwalani,Rajiv S. Mishra +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, a synergistic balance of strength and ductility was achieved in a prototypical fcc-based Al0.3CoCrFeNi complex concentrated alloy by incorporating hierarchical microstructural features into heterog...

Heterostructured materials
TL;DR: Heterostructured (HS) materials are a new class of materials that are composed of heterogeneous zones with dramatically different (>100 %) mechanical or physical properties as discussed by the authors .

Evidence for superplasticity in a CoCrFeNiMn high-entropy alloy processed by high-pressure torsion
TL;DR: In this article, a CoCrFeNiMn high-entropy alloy was processed by high-pressure torsion to produce a grain size of ~10nm and then tested in tension at elevated temperatures from 773 to 1073 K using strain rates in the range from 1.0×10−3 s−1.

The Deformation and Ageing of Mild Steel: III Discussion of Results
TL;DR: In this paper, an attempt is made to explain the observed phenomena in the yielding and ageing of mild steel, described in two previous papers, in the general terms of a grain-boundary theory.
Journal ArticleDOI
Bulk nanostructured materials from severe plastic deformation
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present methods of severe plastic deformation and formation of nanostructures, including Torsion straining under high pressure, ECA pressing, and multiple forging.
Journal ArticleDOI
Principles of equal-channel angular pressing as a processing tool for grain refinement
TL;DR: In this article, a review examines recent developments related to the use of ECAP for grain refinement including modifying conventional ECAP to increase the process efficiency and techniques for up-scaling the procedure and for the processing of hard-to-deform materials.

Using high-pressure torsion for metal processing: Fundamentals and applications
TL;DR: High pressure torsion (HPT) is a well-known technique for metal forming as discussed by the authors, where samples are subjected to a compressive force and concurrent torsional straining.

Diffusional Viscosity of a Polycrystalline Solid
TL;DR: In this article, it is suggested that mosaic boundaries and boundaries between grains of nearly the same orientation may not serve as sources or sinks of the diffusion currents, in which case the creep rate will depend only on the configuration of grain boundaries having a sizable orientation differen...
