Journal ArticleDOI
Morphoj: an integrated software package for geometric morphometrics
TL;DR: The MorphoJ software offers an integrated and user‐friendly environment for standard multivariate analyses such as principal components, discriminant analysis and multivariate regression as well as specialized applications including phylogenetics, quantitative genetics and analyses of modularity in shape data.
Journal ArticleDOI
The genetic basis of pectoralis major myopathies in modern broiler chicken lines
TL;DR: This paper demonstrates the polygenic nature of these traits and the low genetic relationships with BW, PW, and BY, which facilitates genetic improvement across all traits in a balanced breeding program.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Genetic Basis of Zebra Finch Vocalizations
TL;DR: A captive population of more than 800 zebra finches is studied with regard to the quantitative genetics of call and song characteristics to find very high heritabilities in nonlearned female call traits and considerably lower herit abilities in male call andsong traits, which are learned from a tutor and hence show much greater environmental variance than innate vocalizations.
Journal ArticleDOI
Pervasive genetic integration directs the evolution of human skull shape
Neus Martínez-Abadías,Mireia Esparza,Torstein Sjøvold,Rolando González-José,Mauro Santos,Miguel Hernández,Christian Peter Klingenberg +6 more
TL;DR: The results indicate pervasive integration in the human skull and suggest a reinterpretation of the selective scenario for human evolution where the origin of any one of the derived characters may have facilitated the evolution of the others.
Journal ArticleDOI
Impact of bioactive substances on the gastrointestinal tract and performance of weaned piglets: a review
TL;DR: It is suggested that relatively high concentrations of essential oils are needed for beneficial effects to be observed and it has been assumed that these plant extracts mimic most of the effects of antibiotics active on gut physiology, microbiology and immunology.
