Journal ArticleDOI

The role of location indexes in spatial perception: a sketch of the FINST spatial-index model.

TL;DR: This paper hypothesizes a resource-limited mechanism, called a FINST, for individuating or indexing visual features, as distinct from encoding their type or location, and examines the possibility that such indexes might be used to bind perceived locations to arguments in motor commands, thereby allowing some forms of perceptual-motor coordination.
Journal ArticleDOI

Is blindsight an effect of scattered light, spared cortex, and near-threshold vision?

TL;DR: It is concluded that an adequate case for blindsight has not been made and it is probably impossible to demonstrate the existence of blindsight on purely behavioural grounds.
Journal ArticleDOI

Does psi exist? Replicable evidence for an anomalous process of information transfer.

TL;DR: Hyman and Honorton as mentioned in this paper conducted a meta-analysis of the ganzfeld database and concluded that the replication rates and effect sizes achieved by one particular experimental method, namely the Ganzfeld procedure, are now sufficient to warrant bringing this body of data to the attention of the wider psychological community.
Journal ArticleDOI

Psychobiology of altered states of Consciousness

TL;DR: The neurophysiological approach revealed that the different states of consciousness are mainly brought about by a compromised brain structure, transient changes in brain dynamics (disconnectivity), and neurochemical and metabolic processes.

The visual perception of velocity.

TL;DR: It is concluded that velocity is perceived directly and is dynamically conditioned by the structure and general properties of the visual field in which the movement occurs.
