The corruptness resistance of all modified mortars is better than the unmodified mortar.
Results indicated that among all tests examined, a sustainable mortar was produced by the substitution of the cement or sand with 10% CCP with an enhancement in the compressive strength without significantly affecting other properties of the mortar.
It is concluded from the test results that the oxygen diffusion resistance of the polymer-modified mortars is superior to that of unmodified mortar, and is markedly improved with an increase in the polymer-cement ratio.
Meanwhile, the results of chloride ion permeability test revealed a decrease in chloride ion penetration into the bacterially-treated mortar, which is another indication of improved mortar durability.
The admixture must be effective for corrosion protection and compatible with polymers added to repair mortar to improve properties of fresh and hardened mortar.
This mortar has high permeability and flexibility while having a low soluble salt content.

To negate this effect, stabilization of the mortar is necessary.
Besides these constituents it may also contain additives aiming to modify fresh mortar´s properties and/or to improve hardened mortar´s strength and durability.
The mortar with the highest porosity and better hydric behavior but poor mechanical interaction with the stone is highly affected by the ageing tests, acting more as a sacrificial mortar rather than as a repair mortar.
These benefits can be attributed to the reduction of the mortar permeability.

What is the role of pegmea in modification of membrane for carbon capture?5 answersPEGMA plays a crucial role in modifying membranes for carbon capture by influencing the fractional free volume and transport behavior of alcohols and carboxylates in polymer membranes. Incorporating comonomers like PEGMA with long side chains can help prevent undesirable carboxylate crossover in membranes, as observed in PEGDA-PEGMA membranes where permeability to sodium acetate decreases compared to PEGMA-free films. Additionally, functionalized PEGs, including PEG-modified solid absorbents and PEG-functionalized gas-separation membranes, have been developed for both physical and chemical capture of CO2, enhancing the solubility of CO2 in the absorbent through chemical interactions. This highlights the significant impact of PEGMA in membrane modification for efficient carbon capture applications.
How can the use of reactive powder mortars in roof tiles production be improved?5 answersThe use of reactive powder mortars in roof tile production can be improved by incorporating waste materials as partial cement replacements. Several studies have investigated the feasibility of using waste materials such as roof tile powder (RTP)and waste glass powder (WGP)as cement substitutes in mortar mixes. These waste materials have shown pozzolanic characteristics and have been found to enhance the strength and durability properties of mortar. Additionally, the utilization of waste ceramic tile powder (WCP) in alkali-activated mortars (AAMs) has been shown to improve the durability performance of the mortar, including resistance to freezing-thawing, sulphate and acid attack, and elevated temperatures. The incorporation of ceramic waste powder and particles in mortar has also been found to improve long-term compressive strength and resistance against aggressive environments such as chloride and sulphate attack. Therefore, by utilizing these waste materials, the production of reactive powder mortars in roof tile production can be made more sustainable and environmentally friendly.
