The results indicated that biomass is not only the principal energy, accounting for 89 percent of demand, but also the main traded energy in the two time periods accounting for 56-59 percent of commercial demand.
The present study reveals that about 650Mt/year of agricultural biomass is generated in India, while about one-third of this has been found to be surplus for energy applications.
India has vast biomass resources and wasteland to support cultivation of bioenergy crops, the potential of that can be harnessed to resolve energy crisis.
The study of biomass energy is of particular importance for India in view of the extreme dependence of most rural areas on local energy resources.
So, it is the high time to utilize its natural biomass resources to fulfill energy demand.
In conjunction with the ongoing growth path for India and energy access considerations, we recommend more strategically-focused energy policies, including auctions, regular resource-mapping, and zoning that can catalyze biomass energy adoption, while mitigating the greenhouse gas footprint of India.
Eventually, upon its output, this research asserts that biomass energy consumption can be an efficient policy tool for environmentally sustainable development in the US, and, that, hence, biomass production technologies and biomass consumption need to be promoted in other countries as well as in the US.
As policy implication, OECD countries have to improve the biomass energy infrastructure as an important source of renewable energy to promote economic growth.
