TL;DR: In this paper, the Fourier transform on semisimple Lie groups has been shown to decompose in terms of the spaces of intertwining operators for unitary principal series representations.
Abstract: Recently A. Knapp [3] announced that every unitary principal series representation of a semisimple lie group decomposes simply; that is, no two distinct irreducible components of a given unitary principal series representation are equivalent. In proving this result Knapp analyzed in detail the structure of the spaces of intertwining operators for principal series representations. His analysis used a detailed description, due to Harish-Chandra, of the Fourier transform on semisimple Lie groups. In this note we want to prove the analogue of Knapp's result for SLn over a p-adic field. Our proof will be conceptually quite different from Knapp's. Although the case we consider is admittedly quite special, there is hope that this approach to the problem will generalize. Let F be a nonarchimedean local field and let G = GLn(F). Let D be the diagonal subgroup of G and U the upper unipotent matrices. Let B = D U be the group of all nonsingular upper triangular matrices and write 8 for the modular function of B. (If djb is a left Haar measure for B, then d(b)djb is a right Haar measure.) Let A" be a maximal compact subgroup of G and recall that G = KB. Let x be any (unitary) character of D and regard it as a character of B. The induced representation TÏX = Ind^XxS ^) is called the (unitary) principal series representation attached to xTo describe the unitary representation 7rx explicitly we let Hx denote the Hubert space of all complex-valued measurable functions h on G such that h(gb) = X (^)5" / (^)^(^) (g€G,bGB) and such that fK\h(k)\ dk < °°. Then TTX is just left translation in f/x: (*x(x)h) Or) = h(x~ g) (h e Hx; g,xe G). We use the subscript " 1 " to denote the subgroup of Gx = SLn(F) ob-

TL;DR: In this paper, the existence of unitary amplitudes that correspond to a given differential cross section was extended to the many-channel case and a new constraint, the commutavity of dispersive and absorptive parts, was shown to be automatic in all but exceptional singular cases.

TL;DR: In this article, the experience of a separate administrative and decision-making structure in Northern Ireland is examined in an effort to gain an insight into the advantages and weaknesses of decentralization in practice.
Abstract: Decentralization is widely advocated as a means of alleviating the perceived central stultification of modern nation-states, especially those lacking federal constitutional structures. The experience of a separate administrative and decision-making structure in Northern Ireland is examined in an effort to gain an insight into the advantages and weaknesses of decentralization in practice.

TL;DR: Garcia as discussed by the authors proved that there is no odd n > 1 which is harmonic, and Garcia [1] verified Ores conjecture for n < 10; however, since 0res conjecture implies that there are no odd perfect numbers, any proof must be quite deep.
Abstract: Ore proved that any perfect number (even or odd) is harmonic, and that no prime power is harmonic. Pomerance [3] proved that any harmonic number of the form pq9 with p and q prime, must be an even perfect number. Ore also conjectured that there is no odd n > 1 which is harmonic, and Garcia [1] verified Ores conjecture for n < 10; however, since 0res conjecture implies that there are no odd perfect numbers, any proof must be quite deep.

TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that the GNS Hilbert space induced by an arbitrary G-invariant state on a CAR algebra on a separable, complex Hilbert space supports a *-representation of C(S).
Abstract: The groupG of unitary elements of a maximal abelian von Neumann algebra on a separable, complex Hilbert spaceH acts as a group of automorphisms on the CAR algebraA(H) overH. It is shown that the set ofG-invariant states is a simplex, isomorphic to the set of regular probability measures on aw*-compact setS ofG-invariant generalized free states. The GNS Hilbert space induced by an arbitraryG-invariant state onA(H) supports a *-representation ofC(S); the canonical map ofA(H) intoC(S) can then be locally implemented by a normal,G-invariant conditional expectation.

TL;DR: In this paper, the U-representation, which remains unitary for all spins and for all ranges of velocities was obtained, and relevant expressions for the boosts operator and the observables in such a representation were obtained.
Abstract: A representation (called theU-representation) which remains unitary for all spins and for all ranges of velocities was obtained by us in a recent paper. We obtain here relevant expressions for the boosts operator and the observables in such a representation.
