Journal ArticleDOI
The evolution of galaxies resolved in space and time: a view of inside-out growth from the califa survey
Enrique Pérez,R. Cid Fernandes,R. Cid Fernandes,R. M. González Delgado,Rubén García-Benito,Sebastián F. Sánchez,Bernd Husemann,D. Mast,J. R. Rodón,D. Kupko,N. Backsmann,A. L. de Amorim,G. van de Ven,J. Walcher,Lutz Wisotzki,C. Cortijo-Ferrero +15 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors applied the fossil record method of stellar population spectral synthesis to recover the spatially and time resolved star formation history of each galaxy, and showed that the signal of downsizing is spatially preserved with both inner and outer regions growing faster for more massive galaxies.
Journal ArticleDOI
The star formation history of CALIFA galaxies: Radial structures
R. M. González Delgado,Enrique Pérez,R. Cid Fernandes,R. Cid Fernandes,Rubén García-Benito,A. L. de Amorim,Sebastián F. Sánchez,Bernd Husemann,C. Cortijo-Ferrero,R. López Fernández,Patricia Sanchez-Blazquez,S. Bekeraite,C. J. Walcher,Jesús Falcón-Barroso,Jesús Falcón-Barroso,Anna Gallazzi,Anna Gallazzi,G. van de Ven,João Alves,Joss Bland-Hawthorn,Robert C. Kennicutt,D. Kupko,Mariya Lyubenova,D. Mast,Mercedes Mollá,R. A. Marino,Andreas Quirrenbach,José M. Vílchez,Lutz Wisotzki +28 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors studied the radial structure of the stellar mass surface density and stellar population age as a function of the total stellar mass and morphology for a sample of 107 galaxies from the CALIFA survey.
Journal ArticleDOI
Stellar population gradients in galaxy discs from the CALIFA survey
P. Sánchez Blázquez,F. F. Rosales Ortega,J. Méndez Abreu,Isabel Pérez,Samuel Sanchez,Stefano Zibetti,J. A. L. Aguerri,Joss Bland-Hawthorn,Cristina Catalán Torrecilla,R. Cid Fernandes,A. L. de Amorim,A. de Lorenzo Cáceres,J. Falcón Barroso,A. Galazzi,R. García Benito,Armando Gil de Paz,R. M. González Delgado,Bernd Husemann,Jorge Iglesias Paramo,Bruno Jungwiert,Raffaella Anna Marino,Isabel Márquez,Damian Mast,M. A. Mendoza,M. Mollá,P. Papaderos,T. Ruiz Lara,G. van de Ven,C. J. Walcher,Lutz Wisotzki +29 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a comparative study of the stellar metallicity and age distributions in a sample of 62 nearly face-on, spiral galaxies with and without bars, using data from the CALIFA survey is presented.
Journal ArticleDOI
Resolving galaxies in time and space - I. Applying STARLIGHT to CALIFA datacubes
R. Cid Fernandes,R. Cid Fernandes,Enrique Pérez,R. García Benito,R. M. González Delgado,A. L. de Amorim,Sebastián F. Sánchez,Bernd Husemann,J. Falcón Barroso,J. Falcón Barroso,Patricia Sanchez-Blazquez,C. J. Walcher,D. Mast +12 more
TL;DR: In this article, an end-to-end pipeline is developed to extract spectra, including propagated errors and bad-pixel flags, feed the spectra into the STARLIGHT spectral synthesis code, and pack the results for all galaxy zones into a single file.
