Inward H$^+$ pump xenorhodopsin: Mechanism and alternative optogenetic approach
Vitaly Shevchenko,Vitaly Shevchenko,Thomas Mager,Kirill Kovalev,Kirill Kovalev,Vitaly Polovinkin,Vitaly Polovinkin,Alexey Alekseev,Alexey Alekseev,Josephine Juettner,Igor Chizhov,Christian Bamann,Charlotte D. Vavourakis,Rohit Ghai,Ivan Gushchin,Valentin Borshchevskiy,A. V. Rogachev,A. V. Rogachev,Igor Melnikov,Alexander Popov,Taras Balandin,Francisco Rodriguez-Valera,Dietmar J. Manstein,G. Bueldt,Ernst Bamberg,Valentin Gordeliy,Valentin Gordeliy +26 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that the NsXeR is a powerful pump, which is able to elicit action potentials in rat hippocampal neuronal cells up to their maximal intrinsic firing frequency, and they are an alternative to the well-known cation-selective channelrhodopsins.
Journal ArticleDOI
SAS program for two-detector system: seamless curve from both detectors
A. G. Soloviev,T. M. Solovjeva,Oleksandr I. Ivankov,D V Soloviov,A. V. Rogachev,Alexander I. Kuklin +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, the SAS program has been adapted to a twodetector system for the YuMO spectrometer and it is shown that applying weight algorithm technique for the raw data averaging procedure allows one to avoid a "sewing" problem resulting from using different detectors in rather wide q-range.
Journal ArticleDOI
How a viscoelastic solution of wormlike micelles transforms into a microemulsion upon absorption of hydrocarbon: new insight.
A.V. Shibaev,Mikhail V. Tamm,Mikhail V. Tamm,Vyacheslav S. Molchanov,A. V. Rogachev,Alexander I. Kuklin,Elena E. Dormidontova,Olga E. Philippova +7 more
TL;DR: It is shown that a viscoelastic solution of entangled micellar chains is extremely responsive to hydrocarbons-the addition of only 0.5 wt % n-dodecane results in a drastic drop in viscosity by up to 5 orders of magnitude, which is due to the complete disruption of micelles and the formation of microemulsion droplets.
Journal ArticleDOI
Structural Characteristics of Aqueous Dispersions of Detonation Nanodiamond and Their Aggregate Fractions as Revealed by Small-Angle Neutron Scattering
Oleksandr V. Tomchuk,Oleksandr V. Tomchuk,Dmitry S. Volkov,Leonid A. Bulavin,A. V. Rogachev,Mikhail A. Proskurnin,Mikhail V. Korobov,Mikhail V. Avdeev +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, small-angle neutron scattering was applied for the structure characterization of commercial detonation nanodiamond (DND) suspensions, and the fractal nature of the observed clusters was discussed in terms of a unique mechanism of the cluster growth in DND suspensions during their synthesis.
Journal ArticleDOI
High-resolution structural insights into the heliorhodopsin family
Kirill Kovalev,Dmytro Volkov,R. Astashkin,R. Astashkin,Alexey Alekseev,Ivan Gushchin,Jose M. Haro-Moreno,Igor Chizhov,Sergey A. Siletsky,Mahir D. Mamedov,A. V. Rogachev,A. V. Rogachev,Taras Balandin,Valentin Borshchevskiy,Alexander Popov,Gleb Bourenkov,Ernst Bamberg,Ernst Bamberg,Francisco Rodriguez-Valera,Francisco Rodriguez-Valera,Georg Büldt,Valentin Gordeliy,Valentin Gordeliy,Valentin Gordeliy +23 more
TL;DR: The structures of two different states of HeR-48C12 reveal specific features of heliorhodopsins, such as existence of a water-filled cavity in the cytoplasmic side near the retinal Schiff base, and completely hydrophobic organization of the inner extracellular part of the protein.
