TL;DR: An anatomically comprehensive digital atlas containing the expression patterns of ∼20,000 genes in the adult mouse brain is described, providing an open, primary data resource for a wide variety of further studies concerning brain organization and function.

Loss of MeCP2 in the rat models regression, impaired sociability and transcriptional deficits of Rett syndrome
Surabi Veeraragavan,Ying Wooi Wan,Daniel R. Connolly,Shannon M. Hamilton,Christopher S. Ward,Sirena Soriano,Meagan R. Pitcher,Christopher M. McGraw,Christopher M. McGraw,Sharon G. Huang,Jennie R. Green,Lisa Yuva,Agnes J. Liang,Jeffrey L. Neul,Dag H. Yasui,Janine M. LaSalle,Zhandong Liu,Richard Paylor,Rodney C. Samaco,Rodney C. Samaco +19 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that the Mecp2 rat model is a complementary tool with unique features for the study of RTT and the potential benefit of cross-species analyses in identifying potential disease-relevant preclinical outcome measures is highlighted.

Exploring therapeutic strategies for infantile neuronal axonal dystrophy (INAD/PARK14)
Guang Lin,Burak Tepe,Geoff McGrane,Regine C. Tipon,Gist F. Croft,Leena Panwala,Amanda Hope,Agnes J. Liang,Zongyuan Zuo,Lily Wang,Hugo J. Bellen +10 more
TL;DR: It is reported that ceramide metabolism, the endolysosomal pathway, and mitochondrial morphology are affected in INAD patient-derived neurons and that glucosylceramides are elevated in dopaminergic neurons and Purkinje cells, arguing that the neuropathological mechanisms are evolutionary conserved and that ceramides can be used as biomarkers.
