Efficacy of Budesonide Orodispersible Tablets as Induction Therapy for Eosinophilic Esophagitis in a Randomized Placebo-Controlled Trial

Alfredo J. Lucendo, +82 more
- 01 Jul 2019 -
TL;DR: In a randomized trial of adults with active EoE, budesonide oral tablets were significantly more effective than placebo in inducing clinical and histologic remission.
Journal ArticleDOI

Antibodies to flagellin indicate reactivity to bacterial antigens in IBS patients.

TL;DR: In contrast to ASCA, PAB and p‐ANCA, antibodies against A4‐Fla2 and Fla‐X were found significantly more often in IBS patients, particularly in those with postinfectious IBS, compared to HC.
Journal ArticleDOI

Comparison of Interferon-Gamma Release Assay Versus Tuberculin Skin Test for Tuberculosis Screening in Inflammatory Bowel Disease

TL;DR: In contrast to the QFT-G-IT test, the TST is negatively influenced by immunosuppressive medication and vaccination status, and should thus be replaced by the IGRA for TB screening in Immunosuppressed patients having IBD.
Journal ArticleDOI

Eosinophilic oesophagitis and proton pump inhibitor-responsive oesophageal eosinophilia have similar clinical, endoscopic and histological findings.

TL;DR: Some patients with a phenotypic appearance of eosinophilic oesophagitis respond histologically to PPI, and are described as having PPI‐responsive oesinophilia (PPI‐REE), but it is unclear if P PI‐REE is a GERD‐related phenomenon, a subtype of EoE, or a completely unique entity.
