TL;DR: It is suggested that for patients with recent-onset dilated cardiomyopathy, IVIG does not augment the improvement in LVEF, however, in this overall cohort, LVEf improved significantly during follow-up, and the short-term prognosis remains favorable.
Journal ArticleDOI
A phase 1/2 clinical trial of enzyme replacement in fabry disease: pharmacokinetic, substrate clearance, and safety studies.
Christine M. Eng,Maryam Banikazemi,Ronald E. Gordon,Martin E. Goldman,Robert G. Phelps,Leona Kim,Alan Gass,Jonathan A. Winston,Steven Dikman,John T. Fallon,Scott E. Brodie,Charles B. Stacy,Davendra Mehta,Rosaleen Parsons,Karen I. Norton,Michael O'Callaghan,Robert J. Desnick +16 more
TL;DR: A single-center, open-label, dose-ranging study of r-halphaGalA treatment in 15 patients, each of whom received five infusions at one of five dose regimens provides the basis for a phase 3 trial of enzyme-replacement therapy for Fabry disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
Temporal Trends in Incidence and Outcomes of Peripartum Cardiomyopathy in the United States: A Nationwide Population-Based Study
Dhaval Kolte,Sahil Khera,Wilbert S. Aronow,Chandrasekar Palaniswamy,Marjan Mujib,Chul Ahn,Diwakar Jain,Alan Gass,Ali Ahmed,Julio A. Panza,Gregg C. Fonarow +10 more
TL;DR: Maternal MAE rates overall have remained unchanged while cardiogenic shock, utilization of mechanical circulatory support, and in‐hospital mortality have increased during the study period.
Journal ArticleDOI
Heart allograft rejection: detection with breath alkanes in low levels (the HARDBALL study).
Michael Phillips,John P. Boehmer,Renee N. Cataneo,Taseer Cheema,Howard J. Eisen,John T. Fallon,Peter E. Fisher,Alan Gass,Joel Greenberg,Jon A. Kobashigawa,Donna Mancini,Barry Rayburn,Mark J. Zucker +12 more
TL;DR: A breath test for markers of oxidative stress was more sensitive and less specific for Grade 3 heart transplant rejection than a biopsy reading by a site pathologist, but the negative predictive values of the 2 tests were similar.
Journal ArticleDOI
Peripheral extracorporeal membrane oxygenation: comprehensive therapy for high-risk massive pulmonary embolism.
Ramin Malekan,Paul C. Saunders,Cindy J. Yu,Kathy A. Brown,Alan Gass,David Spielvogel,Steven L. Lansman +6 more
TL;DR: Hemarin therapy with pECMO support is a rapid, effective option for patients who might benefit from pulmonary embolectomy but are at high risk for surgery.
