Global and regional burden of hospital admissions for severe acute lower respiratory infections in young children in 2010: a systematic analysis

Harish Nair, +38 more
- 20 Apr 2013 -
TL;DR: The data suggest that although 62% of children with severe ALRI are treated in hospitals, 81% of deaths happen outside hospitals, which suggests community-based management of severe disease could be an important complementary strategy to reduce pneumonia mortality and health inequities.
Journal ArticleDOI

Randomised trial of efficacy of benznidazole in treatment of early Trypanosoma cruzi infection

TL;DR: The trial showed that a 60-day course of benznidazole treatment of early chronic T cruzi infection was safe and 55.8% effective in producing negative seroconversion of specific antibodies.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of 10-valent pneumococcal vaccine on pneumonia among children, Brazil.

TL;DR: Assessment of rates of hospitalization among children 2–24 months of age who had pneumonia from all causes in Brazil from January 2005 through August 2011 found that 1 year after introduction of PCV10, hospitalizations of children for pneumonia were reduced.
Journal ArticleDOI

Short report: benznidazole efficacy among Trypanosoma cruzi-infected adolescents after a six-year follow-up.

TL;DR: The persistent and consistently long-term negative serologic reactions suggest the absence of the parasite in the treated patients and reinforces the recommendation of early benznidazole chemotherapy for T. cruzi-infected infants as a public health policy in endemic areas.
