Effect of Iron-Containing Intermetallic Particles on the Corrosion Behaviour of Aluminium

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of heat treatment on the corrosion behavior of binary Al-Fe alloys containing iron at levels between 0.04 and 0.42% was investigated by electrochemical measurements in both acidic and alkaline chloride solutions.
Journal ArticleDOI

The influence of MgSi particle reactivity and dissolution processes on corrosion in Al–Mg–Si alloys

TL;DR: In this paper, a detailed electrochemical and compositional characterization of MgSi precipitates in Al-Mg-Si alloys during corrosion processes was performed, and it was found that in 1-M NaCl solution, Mg Si particles are selectively de-alloyed by Mg, the process starting within the first few seconds and ceasing after about 20min.
Journal ArticleDOI

Intergranular Corrosion and Stress Corrosion Cracking of Sensitised AA5182

TL;DR: In this article, the IGC and SCC susceptibility of AA5182 (Al-4.5 wt% Mg) was found to depend strongly on sensitisation heat treatments.

Intergranular corrosion and stress corrosion cracking of sensitized AA5182

TL;DR: In this paper, the IGC and SCC susceptibility of AA5182 (Al-4.5 wt% Mg) was found to depend strongly on sensitisation heat treatments.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of thermo-mechanical processing on filiform corrosion of aluminium alloy AA3005.

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of laboratory scale thermo-mechanical processing of aluminium alloy AA3005, supplied as 2.9 mm sheet at the hot roll transfer gauge, on filiform corrosion susceptibility, electrochemical properties and near surface microstructure was investigated.
