Journal ArticleDOI

Spike mutation D614G alters SARS-CoV-2 fitness.

TL;DR: Hamsters infected with SARS-CoV-2 expressing spike D614G (G614 virus) produced higher infectious titres in nasal washes and the trachea, but not in the lungs, supporting clinical evidence showing that the mutation enhances viral loads in the upper respiratory tract of COVID-19 patients and may increase transmission.
Journal ArticleDOI

An infectious cDNA clone of SARS-CoV-2

TL;DR: The reverse genetic system and reporter virus provide key reagents to study SARS-CoV-2 and develop countermeasures and were successfully used to evaluate the antiviral activities of interferon (IFN).
Journal ArticleDOI

Characterization of a Novel Murine Model to Study Zika Virus

TL;DR: Characterization of an Asian lineage ZIKV strain in a murine model, and one of the few studies reporting a model of Zika disease and demonstrating age-dependent morbidity and mortality, could provide a platform for testing the efficacy of antivirals and vaccines.
Journal ArticleDOI

A high-throughput neutralizing antibody assay for COVID-19 diagnosis and vaccine evaluation.

TL;DR: A fluorescence-based SARS-CoV-2 neutralization assay is reported on that detects Sars- CoV- 2 neutralizing antibodies in COVID-19 patient specimens and yields comparable results to plaque reduction neutralizing assay, the gold standard of serological testing.
