Journal ArticleDOI
Genome-wide association study identifies variants in the MHC class I, IL10, and IL23R-IL12RB2 regions associated with Behcet's disease
Elaine F. Remmers,Fulya Cosan,Yohei Kirino,Michael J. Ombrello,Neslihan Abaci,Colleen Satorius,Julie M. Le,Barbara Yang,Benjamin D. Korman,Aris Cakiris,Oznur Aglar,Zeliha Emrence,Hulya Azakli,Duran Ustek,Ilknur Tugal-Tutkun,Gulsen Akman-Demir,Wei-Wei Chen,Christopher I. Amos,Michael B. Dizon,Afet Akdag Kose,Gülsevim Azizlerli,Burak Erer,Oliver J. Brand,Virginia G. Kaklamani,Phaedon G. Kaklamanis,Eldad Ben-Chetrit,Miles Stanford,Farida Fortune,Marwen Ghabra,William E R Ollier,Young-Hun Cho,Dongsik Bang,John M O'Shea,Graham R. Wallace,Massimo Gadina,Daniel L. Kastner,Ahmet Gül +36 more
TL;DR: The known association of Behçet's disease with HLA-B*51 was confirmed and a second, independent association within the MHC Class I region was identified and the disease-associated IL10 variant was associated with diminished mRNA expression and low protein production.
Journal ArticleDOI
Association of familial Mediterranean fever-related MEFV variations with ankylosing spondylitis.
Fulya Cosan,Duran Ustek,Basar Oku,Julide Duymaz-Tozkir,Aris Cakiris,Neslihan Abaci,Lale Ocal,Orhan Aral,Ahmet Gül +8 more
TL;DR: FMF-related MEFV variations are associated with AS, and these variations may contribute to the pathogenesis of AS, especially in populations in which the prevalence of FMF is high.
Journal ArticleDOI
Characterization of H3K9me3- and H4K20me3-associated circulating nucleosomal DNA by high-throughput sequencing in colorectal cancer
Ugur Gezer,Duran Ustek,Ebru Esin Yoruker,Aris Cakiris,Neslihan Abaci,Gloria Leszinski,Nejat Dalay,Stefan Holdenrieder +7 more
TL;DR: The present results confirm earlier findings of lower H3K9me3 levels in CRC and show LINE elements to be the most frequent and best discriminative markers on modified histones.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of curcumin on proinflammatory cytokines and tissue injury in the early and late phases of experimental acute pancreatitis.
Ahmet Gülçubuk,Damla Haktanir,Aris Cakiris,Duran Ustek,Özlem Güzel,Muzaffer Erturk,Murat Karabagli,Ibrahim Akyazi,Hayriye Cicekci,Kemal Altunatmaz,Hafize Uzun,Kenan Ates +11 more
TL;DR: Curcumin reduced tissue injury, trypsin activation and inhibited NF-κB and AP-1, however TNF-α, IL-6 and iNOS and NO were not inhibited at all time points, and therefore no direct correlation was detected in the subgroups between tissue Injury, proinflammatory cytokines and oxidative enzymes.
Journal Article
MEFV gene 3'-UTR Alu repeat polymorphisms in patients with familial Mediterranean fever.
Duran Ustek,Cumhur G. Ekmekçi,Basar Oku,Fulya Cosan,Aris Cakiris,Neslihan Abaci,S. Celik,Sevil Kamali,Gulen Hatemi,Ozgur Kasapcopur,H. Ozdogan,Ahmet Gül +11 more
TL;DR: In this article, the 3'-UTR regions of the MEFV gene were investigated in a group of FMF patients with no coding region mutations, to identify variations with a possible role in the regulation of expression.
