Strategies for containing an emerging influenza pandemic in Southeast Asia
Neil M. Ferguson,Derek A. T. Cummings,Simon Cauchemez,Christophe Fraser,Steven Riley,Aronrag Meeyai,Sopon Iamsirithaworn,Donald S. Burke +7 more
TL;DR: A simulation model of influenza transmission in Southeast Asia is used and it is shown that elimination of a nascent pandemic may be feasible using a combination of geographically targeted prophylaxis and social distancing measures, if the basic reproduction number of the new virus is below 1.8.
Journal ArticleDOI
Essential epidemiological mechanisms underpinning the transmission dynamics of seasonal influenza
James E. Truscott,Christophe Fraser,Simon Cauchemez,Aronrag Meeyai,Wes Hinsley,Christl A. Donnelly,Azra C. Ghani,Neil M. Ferguson +7 more
TL;DR: Results indicate that an age-structured model with non-random mixing and co-circulating strains are both required to match observed time-series data, and estimates of the seasonal peak basic reproduction number are strongly correlated with the timescale for waning of immunity to current circulating seasonal influenza strain.
Journal ArticleDOI
Predicted Impact of COVID-19 on Neglected Tropical Disease Programs and the Opportunity for Innovation.
Jaspreet Toor,Emily R. Adams,Maryam Aliee,Benjamin Amoah,Roy M. Anderson,Roy M. Anderson,Diepreye Ayabina,Robin L. Bailey,María-Gloria Basáñez,David J. Smith,Simon E. F. Spencer,Wilma A. Stolk,Panayiota Touloupou,Andreia Vasconcelos,Carolin Vegvari,Sake J. de Vlas,Martin Walker,Martin Walker,T. Déirdre Hollingsworth +54 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on neglected tropical disease (NTD) activities has been investigated and the authors show that the impact will vary across the diseases.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cost-utility analysis of 10- and 13-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccines: protection at what price in the Thai context?
Wantanee Kulpeng,Pattara Leelahavarong,Waranya Rattanavipapong,Vorasith Sornsrivichai,Henry C. Baggett,Aronrag Meeyai,Aronrag Meeyai,Warunee Punpanich,Yot Teerawattananon +8 more
TL;DR: At current prices, PCV10 and PCV13 are not cost-effective in Thailand and inclusion of indirect vaccine effects substantially reduced the ICERs for both vaccines, but did not result in cost effectiveness.
Journal ArticleDOI
One Health drivers of antibacterial resistance: Quantifying the relative impacts of human, animal and environmental use and transmission.
Ross D. Booton,Aronrag Meeyai,Aronrag Meeyai,Nour Alhusein,Henry Buller,Edward J. Feil,Helen Lambert,Skorn Mongkolsuk,Emma Pitchforth,Kristen K. Reyher,Walasinee Sakcamduang,Jutamaad Satayavivad,Andrew C. Singer,Luechai Sringernyuang,Visanu Thamlikitkul,Lucy Vass,Matthew B. TL;DR: In this article, a model of ABU, gut colonisation with extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL)-producing bacteria and transmission was calibrated using estimates of the prevalence of ESBL-producing bacteria in Thailand.
