Comprehensive Laboratory Measurements of Biomass-Burning Emissions: 1. Emissions from Indonesian, African, and Other Fuels
Ted J. Christian,B. Kleiss,Robert J. Yokelson,Rupert Holzinger,Paul J. Crutzen,Wei Min Hao,Bambang Hero Saharjo,Darold E. Ward +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, trace gas and particle emissions were measured from 47 laboratory fires burning 16 regionally to globally significant fuel types, including coal, rice straw, methanol, and acetic acid.
Journal ArticleDOI
Field measurements of trace gases and aerosols emitted by peat fires in Central Kalimantan, Indonesia, during the 2015 El Niño
Chelsea E. Stockwell,Chelsea E. Stockwell,Thilina Jayarathne,Mark A. Cochrane,Kevin C. Ryan,Erianto Indra Putra,Erianto Indra Putra,Bambang Hero Saharjo,Ati Dwi Nurhayati,Israr Albar,Donald R. Blake,Isobel J. Simpson,Elizabeth A. Stone,Robert J. Yokelson +13 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a mobile smoke sampling team in the Indonesian province of Central Kalimantan on the island of Borneo made the first, or rare, field measurements of trace gases, aerosol optical properties, and aerosol mass emissions for authentic peat fires burning at various depths in different peat types.
Journal ArticleDOI
Chemical characterization of fine particulate matter emitted by peat fires in Central Kalimantan, Indonesia, during the 2015 El Niño
Thilina Jayarathne,Chelsea E. Stockwell,Ashley A. Gilbert,Kaitlyn Daugherty,Mark A. Cochrane,Kevin C. Ryan,Erianto Indra Putra,Erianto Indra Putra,Bambang Hero Saharjo,Ati Dwi Nurhayati,Israr Albar,Israr Albar,Robert J. Yokelson,Elizabeth A. Stone +13 more
TL;DR: In this article, fine particulate matter (PM2.5) was collected in situ from peat smoke during the 2015 El Nino peat fire episode in Central Kalimantan, Indonesia.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of distance from canal and degradation history on peat bulk density in a degraded tropical peatland
Amanda L. Sinclair,Laura R. Graham,Erianto Indra Putra,Bambang Hero Saharjo,Grahame Applegate,Samantha Grover,Mark A. Cochrane +6 more
TL;DR: Differences in bulk density exist across degraded peatlands that are spatially dependent on distance from canals and disturbance history, and these landscape features should be taken into account when designing future bulk density sampling efforts and peatland restoration programs.
Book ChapterDOI
Spatio-Temporal Analysis of Land and Forest Fires in Indonesia Using MODIS Active Fire Dataset
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used descriptive statistics to analyze fires from 2006 to 2015 using MODIS satellite data and found that the highest fire intensity was found in the production forests (73%).
