Journal ArticleDOI
Elevated levels of the vesicular monoamine transporter and a novel repetitive behavior in the Drosophila model of fragile X syndrome.
TL;DR: The dfmr1 mutant in the Drosophila model of FXS grooms excessively, which may be regulated differentially by two signaling pathways, and enhanced monoamine signaling correlates with repetitive behaviors and hyperactivity associated with FXS.
Journal ArticleDOI
Atmospheric emission of polychlorinated naphthalenes from iron ore sintering processes.
TL;DR: Emissions characteristics of polychlorinated naphthalenes (PCNs) from nine sintering plants operating on different industrial scales were measured and the ratios of several characteristic PCN congeners were compared with those from other sources to provide useful information for identifying the sources of PCNs produced by iron ore sintered processes.
Journal ArticleDOI
A preliminary investigation of unintentional POP emissions from thermal wire reclamation at industrial scrap metal recycling parks in China
Zhiqiang Nie,Minghui Zheng,Guorui Liu,Wenbin Liu,Pu Lv,Bing Zhang,Guijin Su,Lirong Gao,Ke Xiao +8 more
TL;DR: Although thermalwire reclamation in incinerators has been proposed as an alternative to open burning, there are still considerable environmental risks associated with regulated incinerators, and unintentional POP emissions from thermal wire reclamation sites need to be controlled by local government agencies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Energy balance and GHG emissions of cassava-based fuel ethanol using different planting modes in China.
TL;DR: In this article, five scenarios related to cassava planting modes were selected to evaluate the lifecycle energy balance and GHG emissions of the CFE system, and the results showed that although all the five CFE scenarios showed positive net energy values (NEV) and greenhouse gas emissions savings compared with the conventional gasoline, the planting modes have significant impacts on their energy and greenhouse gases performance.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hemodynamics and stroke risk in intracranial atherosclerotic disease.
Xinyi Leng,Linfang Lan,Linfang Lan,Hing Lung Ip,Jill Abrigo,Fabien Scalzo,Haipeng Liu,Xueyan Feng,Ka Lung Chan,Florence Fan,Sze Ho Ma,Hui Fang,Yuming Xu,Jingwei Li,Bing Zhang,Yun Xu,Yannie Soo,Vincent Mok,Simon C.H. Yu,David S Liebeskind,Ka Sing Wong,Thomas W. Leung +21 more
TL;DR: To investigate whether hemodynamic features of symptomatic intracranial atherosclerotic stenosis might correlate with the risk of stroke relapse, using a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) model.
