Modeling Bone Marrow Progenitor Cell Differentiation and Susceptibility to HIV-1 Infection.
Aikaterini Alexaki,Shane J. Quiterio,Michael R. Nonnemacher,Sonia Shah,Yujie Liu,Anupam Banerjee,Luna Li,Shendra Passic,Vanessa Pirrone,Evelyn Kilareski,Constantinos Petrovas,Brian Wigdahl +11 more
TL;DR: The TF-1 cell line could serve as a model to study the susceptibility of bone marrow progenitor cells to HIV-1 infection, with specificity protein (Sp) and nuclear factor kappa-light-chain-enhancer of activated B cells) NF-κB factors playing a crucial role in HIV- 1 long terminal repeat (LTR)-mediated transcription and possibly overall TF- 1 permissivity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Computational Design of gRNAs Targeting Genetic Variants Across HIV-1 Subtypes for CRISPR-Mediated Antiviral Therapy.
Cheng-Han Chung,Alexander G. Allen,Andrew Atkins,Robert W. Link,Michael R. Nonnemacher,Michael R. Nonnemacher,Will Dampier,Brian Wigdahl,Brian Wigdahl +8 more
TL;DR: In this article, global patient coverage and global subtype coverage were used to identify guide RNA (gRNA) sequences that account for this viral diversity from the perspectives of cross-patient and cross-subtype gRNA design, respectively.
Anti-viral activity of microbicides in model systems. 12th World AIDS Conference
Daniel Malamud,Mary K. Howett,Brian Wigdahl,Neil D. Christensen,Fred C. Krebs,Fred C. Krebs,Judith Weisz,John W. Kreider +7 more
Journal ArticleDOI
Cervicovaginal Safety of the Formulated, Biguanide-Based Human Immunodeficiency Virus Type 1 (HIV-1) Inhibitor NB325 in a Murine Model
Karissa Lozenski,Tina Kish-Catalone,Vanessa Pirrone,Robert F. Rando,Mohamed E. Labib,Brian Wigdahl,Fred C. Krebs +6 more
TL;DR: Although formulated NB325 appeared generally safe for application in these studies, the low but observable level of toxicity suggests the need for improvements in the compound and/or formulation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Role of Downstream Elements in Transcriptional Regulation of the HIV-1 Promoter
Satinder Dahiya,Yujie Liu,Jean W. Williams,Vanessa Pirrone,Michael R. Nonnemacher,Brian Wigdahl +5 more
TL;DR: This report provides a comprehensive review of the HIV-1 LTR interactions with the transcription factors in the downstream region and summarizes the functional impact of these events on viral gene expression.
