Journal ArticleDOI

Modeling Bone Marrow Progenitor Cell Differentiation and Susceptibility to HIV-1 Infection.

TL;DR: The TF-1 cell line could serve as a model to study the susceptibility of bone marrow progenitor cells to HIV-1 infection, with specificity protein (Sp) and nuclear factor kappa-light-chain-enhancer of activated B cells) NF-κB factors playing a crucial role in HIV- 1 long terminal repeat (LTR)-mediated transcription and possibly overall TF- 1 permissivity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Computational Design of gRNAs Targeting Genetic Variants Across HIV-1 Subtypes for CRISPR-Mediated Antiviral Therapy.

TL;DR: In this article, global patient coverage and global subtype coverage were used to identify guide RNA (gRNA) sequences that account for this viral diversity from the perspectives of cross-patient and cross-subtype gRNA design, respectively.
Journal ArticleDOI

Cervicovaginal Safety of the Formulated, Biguanide-Based Human Immunodeficiency Virus Type 1 (HIV-1) Inhibitor NB325 in a Murine Model

TL;DR: Although formulated NB325 appeared generally safe for application in these studies, the low but observable level of toxicity suggests the need for improvements in the compound and/or formulation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Role of Downstream Elements in Transcriptional Regulation of the HIV-1 Promoter

TL;DR: This report provides a comprehensive review of the HIV-1 LTR interactions with the transcription factors in the downstream region and summarizes the functional impact of these events on viral gene expression.
