Journal ArticleDOI

Extremal indices, geometric ergodicity of Markov chains, and MCMC

TL;DR: In this article, the connections between extremal indices and stability of Markov chains were investigated, and a close link between the extremal index and geometric ergodicity was found.
Journal ArticleDOI

Dynamics of cytokines and immunoglobulins serum profiles in primary and secondary Cryptosporidium parvum infection: usefulness of Luminex® xMAP technology.

TL;DR: A better understanding of the immune response to the infection by C. parvum is contributed to, as well as the advantage of Luminex® xMAP technology to study immune mediators, using small sample volumes is demonstrated.
Journal ArticleDOI

The 15-item Systemic Clinical Outcome and Routine Evaluation (SCORE-15) Scale: Portuguese Validation Studies

TL;DR: This study reports on the validity of the 15-item Portuguese version of the Systemic Clinical Outcome Routine Evaluation (SCORE-15), a brief and comprehensive measure of family functioning, and analyses the discriminant, convergent and predictive validity of this version.
Journal ArticleDOI

Development of mathematical models for the analysis of hepatitis delta virus viral dynamics.

TL;DR: The simulation study shows that, under the most commonly used and generally accepted therapy approaches for HDV infection, LMV monotherapy and combination therapy of LMV and IFN were predicted to more effectively reduce the HBV and HDV viral loads in the case of super-infection scenarios when compared with the co-infections.
Journal ArticleDOI

Nonclassic metallointercalators with dipyridophenazine: DNA interaction studies and leishmanicidal activity.

TL;DR: Combined analysis of DNA biophysical studies, parasite activity, and cytotoxicity measurements suggests that intercalation correlates with leishmanicidal activity, while cytot toxicity results are justified by a combination of DNA interCalation and possible radical formation in the case of Cu(II), most probably hydroxyl and/or singlet oxygen radicals.
