Surface and bulk electronic structure of the strongly correlated system SmB 6 and implications for a topological Kondo insulator
Nan Xu,Xun Shi,Xun Shi,Pabitra Kumar Biswas,C. E. Matt,C. E. Matt,R. S. Dhaka,Y. Huang,Nicholas C. Plumb,Milan Radovic,Jan Hugo Dil,Jan Hugo Dil,Ekaterina Pomjakushina,Kazimierz Conder,Anthony A. Amato,Zaher Salman,D. McK. Paul,Joël Mesot,Hong Ding,Ming Shi +19 more
TL;DR: In this paper, an angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy study was performed on SmB6 to elucidate elements of the electronic structure relevant to the possible occurrence of a topological Kondo insulator state.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mixed dimensionality of confined conducting electrons in the surface region of SrTiO3.
Nicholas C. Plumb,Marco Salluzzo,Elia Razzoli,Martin Månsson,Martin Månsson,Martin Månsson,M. Falub,J. Krempasky,C. E. Matt,C. E. Matt,Johan Juul Chang,Johan Juul Chang,M. Schulte,Jürgen Braun,Hubert Ebert,Jan Minár,Jan Minár,Bernard Delley,K. J. Zhou,Thorsten Schmitt,Ming Shi,Joël Mesot,Joël Mesot,Joël Mesot,L. Patthey,Milan Radovic,Milan Radovic +26 more
TL;DR: It is revealed that changes in the oxygen valence band spectral weight that coincide with the emergence of surface conductivity are disproportionate to any change in the total intensity of the O 1s core level spectrum.
Journal ArticleDOI
Evidence of a Coulomb-Interaction-Induced Lifshitz Transition and Robust Hybrid Weyl Semimetal in T_{d}-MoTe_{2}.
Nan Xu,Zhouguang Wang,Arnaud Magrez,Ph. Bugnon,Helmuth Berger,C. E. Matt,C. E. Matt,Vladimir N. Strocov,Nicholas C. Plumb,Milan Radovic,Ekaterina Pomjakushina,K. Conder,Jan Hugo Dil,Jan Hugo Dil,Joël Mesot,Joël Mesot,Joël Mesot,Rui Yu,Hong Ding,Ming Shi +19 more
TL;DR: It is found that on-site Coulomb interaction leads to a Lifshitz transition, which is essential for a precise description of the electronic structure of T_{d}-MoTe_{2}, and is significant for understanding the interplay between correlation effects, strong spin-orbit coupling and superconductivity in this van der Waals material.
Journal ArticleDOI
Exotic Kondo crossover in a wide temperature region in the topological Kondo insulator SmB6 revealed by high-resolution ARPES
Nan Xu,C. E. Matt,C. E. Matt,Ekaterina Pomjakushina,X. Shi,X. Shi,Rajendra S. Dhaka,Rajendra S. Dhaka,Rajendra S. Dhaka,Nicholas C. Plumb,Milan Radovic,Pabitra Kumar Biswas,Daniil Evtushinsky,V. B. Zabolotnyy,J. H. Dil,J. H. Dil,Kazimierz Conder,Joël Mesot,Joël Mesot,Joël Mesot,Hong Ding,Ming Shi +21 more
TL;DR: In this article, temperature dependence of the electronic structure of SmB6 was studied by high-resolution angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) down to 1 K.
Journal ArticleDOI
Tuning the metal-insulator transition in NdNiO3 heterostructures via Fermi surface instability and spin fluctuations
Rajendra S. Dhaka,Rajendra S. Dhaka,Rajendra S. Dhaka,Tanmoy Das,Tanmoy Das,Nicholas C. Plumb,Zoran Ristić,Zoran Ristić,W. J. Kong,W. J. Kong,C. E. Matt,C. E. Matt,Nan Xu,Kapildeb Dolui,Elia Razzoli,Marisa Medarde,L. Patthey,Ming Shi,Milan Radovic,Joël Mesot,Joël Mesot,Joël Mesot +21 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors employed in situ pulsed laser deposition (PLD) and angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) to investigate the mechanism of the metal-insulator transition (MIT) in NdNiO3 (NNO) thin films, grown on NdGaO3(110) and LaAlO 3(100) substrates.
