Correction: Corrigendum: Geographic population structure analysis of worldwide human populations infers their biogeographical origins
Eran Elhaik,Tatiana V. Tatarinova,Dmitri Chebotarev,Ignazio S. Piras,Carla Maria Calò,Antonella De Montis,Manuela Atzori,Monica Marini,Sergio Tofanelli,Paolo Francalacci,Luca Pagani,Chris Tyler-Smith,Yali Xue,Francesco Cucca,Theodore G. Schurr,Jill B. Santos,David Comas,Oleg Balanovsky,Elena Balanovska,Pierre Zalloua,Himla Soodyall,Ramasamy Pitchappan,ArunKumar GaneshPrasad,Michael F. Hammer,Lisa Matisoo-Smith,R. Spencer Wells +31 more
TL;DR: A revised declaration that lists potentially competing financial interests is provided below: A.M.M., M.D. and M.A.are affiliated with Bcs Biotech S.A., and the declaration is revised to reflect this.
Journal ArticleDOI
ACTN3 R577X and ACE I/D gene variants influence performance in elite sprinters: a multi-cohort study
Ioannis D. Papadimitriou,Alejandro Lucia,Yannis P. Pitsiladis,Vladimir P. Pushkarev,Dmitry A. Dyatlov,Evgeniy F Orekhov,Guilherme Giannini Artioli,João Paulo Limongi França Guilherme,Antonio Herbert Lancha,Valentina Ginevičienė,Paweł Cięszczyk,Agnieszka Maciejewska-Karlowska,Marek Sawczuk,Carlos A. Muniesa,Anastasia Kouvatsi,Myosotis Massidda,Carla Maria Calò,Fleur C. Garton,Peter J. Houweling,Guan Wang,Krista G. Austin,Anastasiya M. Druzhevskaya,Irina V. Astratenkova,Ildus I. Ahmetov,David Bishop,Kathryn N. North,Nir Eynon +26 more
TL;DR: Despite sprint performance relying on many gene variants and environment, the % sprint time variance explained by ACE and ACTN3 is substantial at the elite level and might be the difference between a world record and only making the final.
Journal ArticleDOI
Geographic population structure analysis of worldwide human populations infers their biogeographical origins.
Eran Elhaik,Eran Elhaik,Tatiana V. Tatarinova,Dmitri Chebotarev,Ignazio S. TL;DR: GPS’s accuracy and power to infer the biogeography of worldwide individuals down to their country or, in some cases, village, of origin, underscores the promise of admixture-based methods for bioge geography and has ramifications for genetic ancestry testing.
Journal ArticleDOI
Sensitivity to 6-n-propylthiouracil is associated with gustin (carbonic anhydrase VI) gene polymorphism, salivary zinc, and body mass index in humans
Alessandra Padiglia,A Zonza,E. Atzori,Caterina Chillotti,Carla Maria Calò,Beverly J. Tepper,Iole Tomassini Barbarossa +6 more
TL;DR: The data showed that responsiveness to PROP is inversely related to BMI and salivary ionic zinc concentrations, and the gustin gene dimorphism observed in supertaster and nontaster subjects may influence the protein conformation and, thereby, affect zinc ion binding.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of drinking supplementary water at school on cognitive performance in children
Roberta Fadda,Gertrude Rapinett,Dominik Grathwohl,M Parisi,Rachele Fanari,Carla Maria Calò,Jeroen A. J. Schmitt,Jeroen A. J. Schmitt +7 more
TL;DR: A significant negative correlation between dehydration and the auditory number span is found, which indicates a beneficial effect of drinking supplementary water at school on short-term memory and there was a positive correlation between dehydration and performance in the verbal analogy task.
