Journal ArticleDOI
Association of STAT4 With Susceptibility to Rheumatoid Arthritis and Systemic Lupus Erythematosus in the Japanese Population
Shu Kobayashi,Katsunori Ikari,Hirotaka Kaneko,Yuta Kochi,Kazuhiko Yamamoto,Kenichi Shimane,Yusuke Nakamura,Yoshiaki Toyama,Takeshi Mochizuki,So Tsukahara,Yasushi Kawaguchi,Chihiro Terai,Masako Hara,Taisuke Tomatsu,Hisashi Yamanaka,Takahiko Horiuchi,Kayoko Tao,Koji Yasutomo,Daisuke Hamada,Natsuo Yasui,Hiroshi Inoue,Mitsuo Itakura,Hiroshi Okamoto,Naoyuki Kamatani,Shigeki Momohara +24 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that STAT4 is associated with rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus in the Japanese, and is a common genetic risk factor for autoimmune diseases, with similar strength across major racial groups.
Book ChapterDOI
Optimal Range of Serum Urate Concentrations to Minimize Risk of Gouty Attacks During Anti-Hyperuricemic Treatment
Hisashi Yamanaka,Riko Togashi,Masayuki Hakoda,Chihiro Terai,Sadao Kashiwazaki,Takashi Dan,Naoyuki Kamatani +6 more
TL;DR: It is proposed that urate concentrations during the initial 6 months of anti-hyperuricemic therapy should be maintained within a range of 4.6-6.6 mg/dl, and reduction in the urate concentration during treatment should be as slow as possible.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genetic and clinical studies on 19 families with adenine phosphoribosyltransferase deficiencies
TL;DR: The present studies indicate that most of the patients with this disease are undiagnosed in Japan, and probably in other countries also.
Journal ArticleDOI
A novel single-nucleotide polymorphism at the 5'-flanking region of SAA1 associated with risk of type AA amyloidosis secondary to rheumatoid arthritis.
Masato Moriguchi,Chihiro Terai,Hirotaka Kaneko,Yumi Koseki,Hiroshi Kajiyama,Masashi Uesato,Shinichi Inada,Naoyuki Kamatani +7 more
TL;DR: Since the linkage disequilibrium relationship was reversed between the Japanese and Caucasoid populations, different exon 3 haplotypes of SAA1 are found to be associated with the risk of AA amyloidosis in different ethnic groups.
Journal ArticleDOI
A prospective study of renal disease in patients with early rheumatoid arthritis
TL;DR: This study suggests that a raised serum creatinine concentration or persistent proteinuria in patients with early RA is predominantly drug related whereas, in contrast, isolated haematuria is more directly associated with the activity of the disease process.
