Suppressive Effects of Insulin on Tumor Necrosis Factor-Dependent Early Osteoarthritic Changes Associated With Obesity and Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus.

TL;DR: The hypotheses that 1) tumor necrosis factor (TNF) is critical in mediating these pathologic changes in OA, and 2) insulin has direct effects on the synovial joint that are compromised by insulin resistance are tested.
Journal ArticleDOI

Replication of reported genetic associations of PADI4, FCRL3, SLC22A4 and RUNX1 genes with rheumatoid arthritis: results of an independent Japanese population and evidence from meta-analysis of East Asian studies

TL;DR: In this article, the authors conducted population-based association tests for the four selected SNPs (rs2240340/padi4_94, rs7528684/fcrl3_3, rs3792876/slc2F2 and rs2268277/runx1) previously reported to be associated with rheumatoid arthritis.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of monofilament nylon coated with basic fibroblast growth factor on endogenous intrasynovial flexor tendon healing.

TL;DR: In this paper, a gelatin-coated nylon suture was used to release various growth factors to enhance intrinsic reparative processes after flexor tendon injury, which resulted in an increase of biomechanical strength and a thickening of the epitenon layer.
